First thing - Thank you for the hardwork. This is definitely one of my favorite games in a long while, so to see this kind of support is definitely uplifting.
Second thing - a small disclaimer, but, I do not know how this whole thing works, but if retexturing is a simple matter of replacing images with .png files, I might want to contribute to the thread (if I can). So, I was wondering if you could post up the ORIGINAL individual images for the "normal", "combat", and "menu" portraits of each character. I want to take a stab at making the images look more clean (and HDish, I guess). Last disclaimer: Absolutely no guarantees I'll get something working, as my photoshop skills are limited (but I find this a great way to expand my creativity). EDIT: Interesting, just figured out how to dump textures xD. I'll see if I can get anything nice. EDIT2: This shall be interesting. EDIT3: The ground texture was already fixed, but I felt it was too greenish. I'm just going to attempt to make the ground and grass look more realistic, from blobs to hopefully something nice. -> EDIT4: You be the judge. -> -> -> Not too big of a "retexture", but I tried :( I basically just sharpened up some things as well as increase the resolution (although not everything seems to work well with resolution increases such as the roads). Just something I noticed as I kind of messed with the textures - the original textures are drawn in great detail; however, stretching these textures would make the image look dull. Simply increasing the resolution (even with interpolation) seemed to have no result besides making the overall texture smaller (can be seen in the grass).

@OP: Just a quick advice, since the removal of the "fast mipmaps" hack this issue can't be worked around anymore. If you have got some time, you need to also create custom mipmaps (smaller textures which are applied if the object is far away from the camera). If you enable texture dumping in newer revs, Dolphin will also dump those mipmaps for the grass texture now (the naming will be same, but there's "a _x" suffix indicating the mipmap level). Custom Texture loading works like usual if you keep the name like the dumped texture. Keep in mind that each mipmap needs to have exactly the half width/height of the next-upper mipmap level (plus, depending on the texture type, the most detailed mipmap needs to have a dimension of 1x1). Also note that you need to have all mipmaps in place, otherwise none of them will show up ingame.

I don't know if some of the latest posters realize this or not, but Messiahgov dumped most of the textures in the game and linked them in this thread. The only difference is that his textures were dumped before the mipmap dumping was available, but that's just a minor issue. I just wanted to let everyone know that there is no reason to dump any more textures unless you need the text (which varies depending on the language).
Alekzanderk - Not to rush your work, but when do you think you will be ready to release your textures? Right now, between layberneth's original concept, Xenxe's icons, and the miscellaneous other contributions in this thread, things are very unorganized. I would like to put together one definitive release so that future efforts can be more focused. Also, will you be working on the German text, and perhaps English text if it is dumped? I think at least the German should be done since messiahgov put all that work into dumping the rest of the textures. 07-07-2012, 07:07 PM
While playing I found myself getting bothered by the low res faces. So I came here to see if anyone had made a HD face retexture yet.
Since no one had, I figured I would just go without. That was until I found the texture dump from messiahgov and I realised I could fix this myself! So I started to work on the main characters! Their faces have been Up-Rezzed, and their Eyes have been completely Re-Drawn from scratch by me. Here's a look at what I've got so far... However I ran into an issue. I couldn't find any files pertaining to Fiora. I don't know how to do a texture dump myself, So if anyone has already done one and it dose contain her files it would much appreciated if you would post them here so I can start work on her. Also do note I'm am not far into the game yet so I don't have access to the other party members just yet. *(If anyone knows how to fix the audio cracking, I would love to know how to fix it)

Wow, good work, are you planning to eventually do all of the faces? I guess you probably want to wait until you beat the game so that you have a good idea of what each character looks like, if so, I understand. As far as I know messiahgov's dump is pretty much complete, save for some hard-to-come-across textures. I will see if I can find Fiora for you. As you know from looking through the dump, it can be hard to recognize what some textures are. To fix any sound issues, you should enable LLE audio. However, this can cause a performance hit, so Mylek wrote a patch for HLE that fixes most of the audio issues. I would recommend downloading one of Lectrode's builds (look in the Development Forum) to which he has applied the patch. I used 3.0-424_XBHLE31 to play through the whole game, and had no problems. Edit: Fiora's face texture is SX4P01_aad14f9d_9. You were right, though, it's not in his dump, I've uploaded to http://www.mediafire.com/i/?mn0r0f8uox6c818 If you ever need to dump any textures in case something is missing like this, you just uncheck Load Textures, and check Dump Textures. The textures will be dumped immediately to the User/Dump/Textures folder. You can even do this midgame to avoid dumping textures before you need to. 07-08-2012, 04:16 AM

Hi, I would like to contribute in the mega-project but I want to know what program do you guys are using for re-texture the game images?
Edit: I found that in gimp exist a option called re-scale, maybe I could use for re-texture some weapons. |
