@kirbypuff: While I appreciate the input and criticism, I don't like the manner in which you do it. Multiple times you have insulted the work of one of our most prominent contributors using words like soapy mess, horrible, cheesy, tacky, and looks like vomit... and I looked the other way. To be honest, it's really hard to care about the opinions of someone who expresses them like that, whether they have merit or not. If you need an example of how to be polite, just look at shellashock's post that offers both criticism and insight without being rude. You're quick to point out what you don't like, but never once said anything referring to what you do like or showed any signs of gratitude to the many people who have put their time into it. Quite frankly, if you don't like something, there are ways to express it without being offending. And if so many things bother you, you have the complete freedom to delete textures you don't like, uncheck the "Load Custom Textures" box, or not download the pack at all and play with stock textures.
So... I'll start with the walls. I'm not too good with these kinds of textures as I'm still new to this kind of work, and it was extremely rushed. I mostly wanted to just cover up the ugly textures with pixels the size of Shulk's head with something that was close to the original and looked better. I'll agree that it could use some more degradations, especially along the top part. I'll see what I can do about adding more dirt and decay, but I can't make many promises.
The water I think Bruno was going for is more of a real ocean look (http://imgur.com/a/3qjtZ) rather than try to recreate the xenoblade water which just looks like a bunch of stretched white dots. I can agree that it may look slightly too bright, but that can easily be reduced. Xenoblade water is a total of 26 frames of animation, and to be able to animate it seamlessly like he has is quite a feat, so I don't think anyone is going to be offering alternative water anytime soon.
The snow may be a little too "grainy" (I prefer "crystally"), but I had to go with what I could find on the internet. And almost all images of snow look grainy (http://imgur.com/a/7w3QE), and the ones that don't just look like a polished surface (which is not what Xenoblade snow looks like). This was the closest snow texture/image I could find that mostly looked like Xenoblades, and I looked at a hell of a lot of pictures of snow. Xenoblade default snow is stretched 4-8x across each tile, so naturally its going to look blurry. They also chose a style that looks "lumpy" for a mountain texture snow, so making it look "smooth" looks far too different. Using smaller "grain" does make it look too much like sand. Blurring the retexture might help in this case, but I didn't want to detract from the detail. Based on the feedback, I'll see if blurring it will actually help.
Edit: Messing with the snow further, I still think it looks fine. Snow is naturally grainy, trying to remove it just detracts from what it "should" look like. To outline what I'm talking about, I made the image below. Anyone can clearly see which one looks closer to reality when looking down at your feet, albeit still blurry because I can't really up the resolution any further... which would make it look more "grainy" anyway... Blurring the grain just makes it look like it always did, blurry. Using a smoother texture looks too different. Too much grain and may as well make it sand. I don't think it's possible to make it much better, but I'm more than happy to be proven wrong if someone wants to attempt it.
