That's actually 100% my fault because I found those pink bushes online and wanted to make higher quality versions and replace a couple of other bushes. But I got lazy and forgot to do it and frozen was pushing for a release so it just didn't happen after removing the other ones. I too loved those bushes, so in a few minutes here I'll post a higher quality version. Edit: Here they are, and with much higher quality than before. Edit2: Oops almost replaced the wrong bush. I never could do things quickly without messing something up. http://www.mediafire.com/download/gpbija...Bushes.zip For reference, this is where they come from: http://3d-diva.davidmichaeldesigns.com/p...scape.html And there should be no problem using them. Since it's a starter weapon you will see for about 1h or so I think it's acceptable and better than nothing. Until someone else do a better work it does the trick That's actually really good! Great job. Looks like your texturing skills are are improving more and more. 07-12-2015, 03:16 AM
@Bighead - Sorry for rushing you, dude. I was just eager for the new folder hierarchy.
@toto - looks really nice. There are some simple shading issues, but I can fix them fairly quickly if you're okay with it. The biggest problem I see is that you applied the leather effect for the grip to the entire handle. I think the guard and the pommel are supposed to be metal. maybe an accident? Other than that, I see no issues. 07-12-2015, 03:26 AM
Not your fault, its mine for being lazy.
Another thing that's been bothering me is that although there is no denying Bruno's magnificent, endless, and nearly unmatchable talent, I wasn't happy with the modification to my grass bushes in Bionis Leg. While I like the effect, I didn't like the grass used for the "closest" ones. He used the grass from the title screen which is low rez and a completely different color. So I tried to use my grass as a base and lighten the nearest 2 mipmaps to still give the effect but have the colors actually match. The effect is much more subtle, mostly because the colors are not completely different. Sorry about the leather, it was just a visual try I forgot to remove...
Here is the xcf, if you can upload the fixed xcf version so I can see where I failed. It's definitly still too early for me to try this kind of moves.

@Bighead - That looks much better. I was thinking the same thing, and I didn't think it was always like that. Perhaps he changed it at some point?
@Toto - I'll take a look. I have a couple hours right now free and I might not get another chance until Monday. On the brightside, I have Monday-Friday off this week and my son will be away at his grandparents house for the entire week. That means, assuming I don't go into lazy vegetable mode, I can hopefully get a retexture or two out. Edit - Looking at your XCF, the leather grip part is freaking amazing, you did great there. I don't think I could have done that part at all. Edit - I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but I'm out of time probably until Monday. I can do a bit more, but I'm attaching the XCF so you can sort of see what I did so far. I marked the new layers I made with a "*Frozenwings" at the start so you can see what I added, but I did also delete a couple of your layers and edit a few of the others as well. I'll probably continue working on this when I get more time. 07-12-2015, 07:28 AM
Wow that's great, I really want to know how did you add the shadows on blade (is it bevel ?) and the brushed metal effect (when I tried it ended like sh*t...)...

I just used the paint brush with varying levels of opacity for the shadows and lighting. I need to go back and fix a few things, though. You and I have quite different styles, so I got a little sloppy.
The brushed metal is a slightly custimized white brushed metal texture I put together a long time ago. In the colors menu, you can convert a color to alpha, which will leave only the black brushed metal lines with a transparent background. Then I put that on its own later above the layer i want to have the brushed metal effect and adjust the layer opacity to taste.
I will try/experiment and see if I can do something simillar to your great shadows and if you can share your brushed metal model texture it would be awesome

haha thanks! I was (kinda not really) kidding and there you go and deliver! As usual. this is great work you guys are doing. If you ever manage to finish this thing it might even look the same or better than X. Which is... sad. Well a compliment to you, but a head scratch in Nintendo's direction. I guess I'm just on team "those characters look ugly wtf?". Not sure I'll ever beat this first one at this rate anyway! ; )
