Liking that armor, toto. I'm looking forward to some potentially new Xenoblade armor retextures.

Yeah that's a nice improvement, I think it looks great. BTW I played Pandora's Tower just a few months ago and it's a pretty good game. The story is a bit.. out there, but not bad and the game play was entertaining enough to keep me playing until the end. Still gotta make it through NG+ just so I can see what's behind some of them doors. I thought about doing a few textures while I was playing it, but I didn't want to start and maintain yet another pack, so if one pops up I "might" just toss a few contributions that way.

So I made a try with one Shulk armor, I "cleaned" textures the best I can with my low skills and here is what I ended with. With this particular armor I didn't know if it's metal or ceramic (or anything else exsisting in this fantasy world) so I did not tried to mimic a particular material because it alsays ended really bad visually (probably because I lack skill to make it better).

Low poly counts on armor are always going to be a factor in making it tricky to determine the intention of the texture's "feel", but I'll definitely say that as far as up-ressing goes it looks solid. The Rafaga set is definitely one of my favorites design-wise (and from a practical standpoint in-game) so any work done on that is better than none in my book.

@Toto, I think that's a huge improvement over the original. Great job. Edit: IMO it's good enough to put in the pack like that. It's way better than the default.
If it helps, I have XCF files (for gimp) of the Monado I and II retextures. Although the lightened-up version of the Monado I was lost somewhere, so the Monado I XCF file is pre-lightened and is not the same version that's in the packs. It should still be very good for any recolors you want to do, though. Either way, they're both very messy as far as layers go. I had always planned on going back and renaming the layers, but I got lazy. However, it should make it pretty easy to recolor the light beams for example (all on a separate layer), or you could merge all of the monado pieces together too and do some easy recolors. Obviously, anyone reading this can do what they want with these. Make recolors, make totally new retextures, etc. Monado I and II GIMP files download And just cover my butt, the Monado II is half Bighead's work too. Although I don't think he'd make a big deal either way. Edit: @ReNext - Awesome work on the other languages. Long overdue in my opinion, but I don't trust myself beyond English and some basic Español. A general question - Do all languages have different hashes then? If they aren't being retextured at all, I assume they must. Does this mean we could just toss all Languages in one giant text folder as opposed to having them all optional? Or would this screw something up? 06-15-2015, 12:19 PM
@toto : Your armor retexture is very nice ! If all could be like that, it would be wonderfull ^^' I agree with frozen, you can put it in the pack :3

@toto621: It's a hard sell, because I am extremely pedantic when it comes to just about anything with this pack. I could go on all day about things I don't like vs. things I do like, and in the past I have generally not accepted filtered/cleaned textures. The only exceptions up to this point were those god forsaken armor icons (Echoes did an amazing job cleaning them up), and the Mechon gears and ether furnace both by frozenwings, because the improvements were indisputable over the hideousness of the originals.
With that said, there's no denying they look much, much better, and fall into what I consider "really good" for this type of work. They look much cleaner, and still look like the original textures, so I see no reason not to include them in the pack. Good job. It's probably the best/closest thing I've seen to a retexture, without it actually being a full blown retexture. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this, because there are a lot of armors, and doing a complete retexture of even just one can be quite the undertaking. So anything that counts as progress towards making armors look better is okay with me. After examining those screenshots over, and over, and over again, the only thing that really stands out that needs correction, is that transparency is lost in parts of the helmet and becomes thicker in some spots. Most noticeable in screenshot number 2. If you can't fix it, I don't mind doing touch ups. Also, I noticed your textures are moderately darker. A small bump to brightness might help with that and put them more in line with their original counterparts, 5-20 increase maybe, but honestly the darker color is also fine. It's hard to say without trial. Brightening it up may even take away from the generic detail that the higher contrast adds. All languages have different textures for UI related text (skill trees, day/night cycle, area intro, etc), aside from conversations which use the "64x256" universal text textures. Which I still believe could be better, but I remember being told otherwise looong ago that the text is tricky in this game, but I never tried to modify them, so I'm not yet convinced.
wow. the forum is very active.
I wanted to communicate that I was hositalizado due to a necessary correction, I am now bed, and are being a horror without being able to work on my projects or even go for a walk, I can not drive for one month, but I'm fine, just a simple, then explain better. Bighead thx, if it's okay to use the texture 8k in Fallen Arm I'm more relaxed, I never had problems with any of emulators, just using a 32k texture, used the new Ishiiruka and the few stutters that had disappeared, I used a 16k texture without any stammer, this is very good. Frozen Man I'm until thrilled with your comment, I do what I can, and is a pleasure, I admire everyone in this forum Toto621 Nice, is a very delicate job, this work is great Monado I do not know if my comment is too late As others have commented, this is it, but I will complement and will try to help with a shortcut, I was already instructor, I can not talk much about my experience (secret), which can say is that, yes, I work (and i fighting ) games and I am Design for many years before my certification. Certification, titles, ... I have to say about all this ?: all this is for nothing It's simple what you should do Dream as a 5 year old and work as an adult to accomplish what he dreamed 1 - Imagine without limits, so some projects were made for various games, choose a program (use the internet to analyze the best) learn to use the tools of this program alone how it works. Use and play with the tools to have memorized what each one does. 2 - Then open a very difficult image to be made, but without much detail, and make it, do not like, but do it improved, do not give up until you can imagine this as a competition, show your work to others. No matter what tool you use, make it work as you want This will give you the security program you use, I use vector for everything, but you have to choose what they like, a guy who has worked with me can do a better face I using paint 3 - Use a camera, a good machine, and place a white matte plastic on the flesh (to avoid unwanted shadows) not too close, to avoid a sound like a snap, take pictures of stones, bricks, plants, grasses, etc. ... and to build up a collection. Use this collection to create new stones, mix stones, use the tools for this, cut pieces of merges between them and multiply the size of texture with small pieces like flaps. and begin testing their textures. If you want a higher level to finish, do a professional course and discover how to do things you taught himself, but more easily, three days later you will look like a boss 06-15-2015, 04:14 PM
I got bored tonight and realized that we had a few optional Monado FX not being used for any Monado I or IIs, so I decided to do a few quick optional recolors to match the FX.
I made Monado I and II versions of all three color schemes, and all use optional FX found in the current pack. Folders should be set up to match what you would find in the optional folder. Bluesteel Spoiler: Spoiler: Spoiler: PNG Monado Recolor Pack @Bruno Good to hear from you, glad you're doing okay. Hope you get well soon.
@Gamedominator06: You're right and this is my favorite design too, it's awesome with the wii-colored monado.
@frozenwings: Thx for the Gimp files and I love the Charcoal color, render well in-game !! @Safirion: Thx, glad you like it @Bighead: Sorry for the defaults, it was late in the night I was tired...I can't believe I didn't saw the transparency loss...my bad... Here is the fixed version, made it lighter too as you requested to be as close as possible to the original : Spoiler: @BrunoFBK: Thx and I hope you will get well as soon as possible
