This option (gfx, directly beside custom texture itself) is disabled by default and there is a hard limit at 50% of the physical RAM. This limit is not some kind of autodetection, it's to prevent a global system freeze when windows start to swap out...

Alright, thanks! It's good that there's an option
Intel i5-4690k (Devil's Canyon) @ 3.5 GHz (+Scythe Mugen) / Gainward GTX 1070 Phoenix (OC'd) / ASUS Z97 PRO GAMER / 16GB G.Skill DDR3-2400 CL10 TridentX / X-Fi XtremeMusic / Win10 Pro 64bit / Dell S2716DG Monitor / 3x original WiiMote+MotionPlus+Nunchuk
That is all kinds of amazing!!! I played around a bit, and for me at least, the png texture pack takes about 2.5 GB of RAM, according to Dolphin. My overall Ram usage was between 4.5GB to 5.9 GB. Granted, I had some stuff open while testing, but it overall didn't take as much RAM as I expected. We should recommend 8GB for the png pack, at least.
Thank you so, so, sooo much Degasus! And don't worry about what resolutions you end up with, Bruno. As far as I'm concerned, the bigger they are, the better. We (well, Bighead ) will re-size it to not be so demanding. Besides, it's fun to use the ultra high uncompressed textures, if only to mess around with my computer. 05-27-2015, 07:59 AM
This is great degasus, glad to finally see this merged as it helps a ton! I did notice one thing which I'm only mentioning for others who work on textures, so this is not a bug, just a side effect. When testing new textures, I usually have the textures loaded, save a state, replace an already loaded texture, then load the save state and the new texture is loaded. Obviously this trick does not work with this option enabled since it's now reading the textures from RAM and not the drive. It took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on when I was testing a texture lol, until I realized... uh, duh.
Thx Degasus, great, I'll try this, it'll be amazing!
I had trouble with a texture, I will test with this I have final Sunset also Echoes, good to see you, been a few weeks without posting Thx all (05-27-2015, 07:59 AM)Bighead Wrote: This is great degasus, glad to finally see this merged as it helps a ton! A save state will flush our texture cache as the new state likely has different data. So the old code will start to reload all custom textures again. Are you fine without a "fix" for this "issue" ? 05-27-2015, 11:04 PM
Oh yeah I'm fine without a "fix", no need to change behavior for something like this. I can just keep the box unchecked for work-time and checked for play-time so it's definitely not an issue. I don't even know if many people even used the save state trick to test stuff on the fly, as unchecking/rechecking load textures also works.

So the problem I am having is with the controls.
The only thing that seems to be retextured, controls-wise, is the D-Pad. A, B, Z are still showing the Wii Versions. Spoiler: Spoiler: Spoiler: 05-29-2015, 06:00 AM

If you open the graphics menu and toggle off custom textures while you're still in game, the emulator will render the textures in the ISO immediately! Toggle it on and off to compare your textures with the games textures in real time! Just wanna spread the knowledge. You guys know about this?
