I'm running 3.5-2306 with speaker data checked and all I've been getting from my wiimote is corrupt-sounding low frequency garbles in any game I've played. Is this a known problem with current dev builds or do I have a setting wrong?

EDIT: I should also note that enabling speaker data makes it likely (or maybe just more likely) that the wiimote disconnects during a game.

IIRC, the Toshiba stack is required for Wii Remote audio to work properly. (Or, if I don't remember correctly, it'd at least make logical sense for the Toshiba stack to fix this since it happens to support Wii Remotes much better than Windows's built-in stack does.) If it doesn't help, I'd guess that you're either using a third-party/knockoff Wii Remote (these have really hit-or-miss compatibility) or you're using HLE audio and playing a game that uses the Zelda DSP µcode, for which the DSP HLE is... pretty broken.

No I'm using a real wiimote; the black one with the Motion+ built in. I have been using the windows stack however so that could be it if you're right. Can I get a link?

Does Mario Kart use the Zelda DSP µcode? :p

Yes, Mario Kart Double Dash uses that "shitty" microcode...

Alright I got the Toshiba stack (can't believe how many fake downloads there are for it) and switched to LLE. The sound from the wiimote still sounds like it's a demon trying to break through to the mortal plane. It sounds far more distorted than it did on playing on a real wii.

Oh and it still disconnects occasionally. Could my cheap dongle be at fault?

Probably, but only if 1) someone requests such a feature, and/or 2) someone wants to implement such a feature. The proper place to file feature requests is on Dolphin's Google Code page (under Issues, just make a new one).

Yes, it is possible for the emulated wiimote speaker to be played through the PC speakers. It doesn't sound all that much better Tongue The real wiimote speaker cannot be re-routed (iirc).

The reason why it hasn't been done is because of laziness and it being a bit difficult to route and mix the wiimote speaker to Dolphin's audio backend. Also had to decide whether we should route the four wiimotes to the four corners of the room - front left speaker, front right speaker, rear left speaker, rear right speaker etc.

There are bigger priorities I would guess :p and It's less about quality and more about volume. I recall playing silent hill on a real wii and there are points in which you need to listen to the wiimote as if it were a cellphone; all I could hear was cthulhu over a weak connection.

As someone with a 5.1 system I'd love to see that, and when I have friends over I'd position each of us nearest to 'our' speaker.Big Grin
