You can use 3.0-845 with HLE-patch. I completed whole game on this one.
I might give that a try. So far turning off V-Beam has cleared up 99% of the sound issues.

I've been looking at performance guides and getting caught up on that all the different iterations of dolphin seem to have different configuration options. I've only been able to get the game to run around 10-15 fps with really bad sound. I have it set to direct3d9 with a 1280x720 resolution with only 4x anti aliasing as my only enhancement (graphics are horribly grainy otherwise). setting it lower gets the opening to play mostly lag free but a soon as gameplay starts the frame rate is still 12-15. I'm using dolphin 3.5-367. my specs are as follows.

intel core i7-3610qm @ 2.30ghz (i'm pretty sure it's a quad core)
12 gb ram
64bit operating system
nividia geforece gtx 670m 3gb

is ti my version of dolphin? can the audio issues cause framerate drops? I really have no idea what to do.
I'm sure the other guys will be more expansion. But first time you should probably do is turn off that AA. Someone recommended running 3.5-145, its running fine for me.

I'd be slightly concerned about only having 2.3Ghz, its pretty low for emulator, running at Native res should be ok, not sure about anything higher than that. Also is that a laptop GPU? It won't be as good as a full blown desktop one.

But like most say, its mostly raw CPU power you need. I run a 4.4Ghz Quad core and even I get a slight dip below 30fps when I run IR 4x.

Just FYI - IR depends of your video card, not CPU.

If you set it to Window Size it would render the resolution to match it, so 1920x1080 for example. Whereas 4x IR is 2560x2112.

Because your monitor res is only 1920x1080, it downscales the 4x IR, as such giving a sharper, less jaggy image.

A small post concerning downscaling in general: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2252699

I think its a bit like getting the effects of AA, without the smoothing, aka the blurring.

You can use AA (forced FXAA from driver options in my case) to fix aliasing. "Window Size" (with 1920x1080) looks nice, and again - better for lightning (my choice).

Window size with FXAA.

Window size with x4 SSAA.

x4 IR with x4 SSAA.

Almost no difference.

Any idea of what the hit is on performance on each of these? Is Window Size+SSAA less intensive than x4 IR?

Also do you find you even need SSAA when you are running IR x4?

Does not matter
You can set multipier via Throttlestop to force turbo boost frequency higher
Before using Throttlestop , please install Intel Turbo Boost Monitor
You can check your CPU turbo boost frequency here
Set your CPU multiplier to 30 or 31
You will have 30 x 99.78 = 2993.4MHz ~ 3.0GHz
or 31 x 99.78 = 3093.18 ~ 3.1GHz
Click Save and close throtlestop and then run throtlestop again . Keep throttlestop running while you're using Dolphin
[Image: 16865918.jpg]

You also need to make sure Dolphin is using your Nvidia GPU , not the Intel HD 4000 (config it via Nvidia Control Panel) . Set Battery Setting to high performance

Game run almost full speed with HLE here and the audio is almost perfect (still have stuttering audio sometime)
You can use these settings :
Quote:_Use HLE back end (default)
_Use Dolphin 3.5 - 145 (Yes , it must be this version ) and "Disable Per Pixel Depth" in graphic option
_Internal Resolution : 3x or 4x native , no AA , 16x AF (AF has no impact in performance and your GPU is fine for 4x native)
_Aspect Ratio : Stretch to Window , Render to main Window
_Disable Full screen , use "Alt-Enter" to toggle full screen
_EFB copies to texture
_Enable "OpenMP texture decoder"
_Set Framelimit to 30 and enable "Limit by FPS"
_Speed Hack : Right-click the game - Properties - Enable "Vbeam emulation"

I've run the game for about 8 hours and disabling V-Beam Helped. I have to say I think V-beam is a really good boost, not sure why my system seems to screw with the audio, I think it has to do with V-beam trying to keep everything synced.

Loving the screenshots admin89

This is my copy of the game based on the settings, I am still interested in the IR x4 vs Native + SSAA, just for the odd 2 fps drops.

Your monitor display is 1920x1080 right ?
1920x1080 + 4x SSAA ~ 5x IR > 4xIR

Ah I see. I'm not getting any jagged edges on 4x IR, so I'll roll with that. Seems to make more sense.

You are a help as always Big Grin

No. In my case:
x4 IR - 32-37 FPS, 29-34 in combat.
Window size with x4 SSAA - 25-30, 22-28 in combat.
PAL version with 30 FPS patch.
Quote:Also do you find you even need SSAA when you are running IR x4?

Yes, without any AA it's still jaggy. But FXAA is enough for me.
