I'm so unsure whether to play this on Wii or on Dolphin this Friday... I was hoping those of you lucky enough to have the game could answer a few questions. Firstly, does the game display properly? I recall the demo having problems and I'm not sure if the heavy blurring in some of the screenshots I've seen is intentional. How is the framerate compared to the Wii version, does it dip during combat or during any particular moments (I have an i7 875k, would I maybe need a Sandy Bridge processor for smooth framerates?). How frequently does the game crash? Has anyone made it through a lot of the game without any issues? If I run into any issues, is there a way to convert a Dolphin save to a Wii save? Thanks in advance.

The game looks amazing on dolphin and to limit it to Wii would just be sad. Depending on your gfx card, you should be totally fine running it at max. I'm getting a steady 30fps now @3x rez / 8xAA / 16xAF with the only dips in Skyloft (and I've only seen it dip to 29, lol). It's such a beautiful game. I've actually decided to throw money @ Nintendo by getting the golden Wiimote bundle because it might be worth something in the future.
I'm using the exact revision and settings as the original post but one thing is a problem.
When i turn on anti aliasing i get the filter, BUT, whenever i move the filter moves WITH the character! Basically the two layers of filter keep moving around. How do i fix that? Notice how the floor behind link is split between filtered and not filtered, and the two areas i pointed out. Turning anti aliasing off fixed this but i get no filter at all!
Just beat the game, 33 hours play time.
No graphic problems, no sound problems, no errors and no crashes. General: Dolphin r7719 D3D11 1080p Aspect Ratio: Auto 4x Native 8x Anti-Aliasing 16x Anisotropic Filtering Per-Pixel Lightning - Check Force Texture Filtering - Check Skip EFB Access from CPU - Unchecked (Played with it on till late game, lol) EFB Copies: Virtual Open MP texture decoder - Check Disable per-pixel depth - Check Sound: DSP HLE emulation (fast) Enable DTK music - Check Enable Audio throttle - Check PC: i7-2600K - 4.9GHz AMD Radeon 6970 2GB 8GB DDR3 RAM Win 7 x64 Game was awesome, better than Twilight Princess but Ocarina still beats it in my opinion.
OS: Windows 7 x64

There are mostly minor issues such as far-away objects flickering and missing reverb sounds when using HLE --- using LLE fixes this.
3 more screens (also added to the OP):
Now, one interesting thing. AF is NEEDED in this game. It seems that it makes no effect at first sight, but AF set to 1 causes severe banding in characters and surroundings. See examples bellow, looking at Link's hat: AF x 1 AF x 16 So definitely crank that AF up, no performance impact at all. 11-16-2011, 01:41 PM
Those Skyward Sword pictures are... beautiful. Does it look that good or better in motion? It's mesmerizing what they do to games and then what the Wii does to them.
Thank goodness I'm building a rig capable of running this in 1080p at max speed.
Hey guys, I have the latest version of Dolphin. I've looked at the about section, but the version code i'm getting isn't 4 digits like 7797 etc.
Is it OK to use the latest revision of dolphin, if not, could someone link me to the correct version to use? Awesome forum BTW. Can't wait to play this game. I've actually pre ordered it as well, but I want to play it in HD Cheers (11-16-2011, 12:44 PM)felipaopl Wrote: 3 more screens (also added to the OP): Definitely see the diff, look at the back of links head! 11-16-2011, 02:03 PM

Only problem is occasional texture stuttering (black lines) but it looks fantastic anyways, so I don't really care xD. 11-16-2011, 02:22 PM
Also, what drivers you guys using for nvidia? I have the latest installed (beta ones I used for BF3).
Get my remote tomorrow, can't wait to try this out. |
