This is the hardest game to run in Dolphin according to many users; pretty sure no computer can run it full speed at this point.
[Wii] The Last Story

Overclock your CPU ! i5 2500k is good at overclocking . It can hit 4.8GHz easily if you have an aftermarket cooler . Even 5.0GHz is possible
But even so , The Last Story is a 30FPS game which mean 30FPS is maximum speed . 60FPS is double speed Laptop: Youtube Channel (Vintage Tech/Watches) :: 05-20-2014, 02:23 PM
Hey everyone, i've been playing this on 4.0.1 since it gave me consistent 30-20fps most of the time, which is fine and i've accepted the slowdowns but whenever i try to use the in-game save i get a failed to save error. The only workaround i've found is to press shift-F1 and quickly save in-game. But by doing this whenever i reload the in-game save the clothes texture are out of wack and can't fix it whatsoever, i've been forced to play with save states but already once or twice my save state would crash dolphin (thankfully i save often). What could be the issue? The Dolphin revision?
I have a core I7 3770 @ stock 3.9GHz and GTX 770. 05-20-2014, 04:40 PM
The game need "EFB copy to Ram" to correct clothes texture . If you use "EFB copy to texture" , you will have graphic glitches

Yes i did that and also tried playing with the accuracy but nothing worked. only thing that works is playing on the same save state while the accuracy is set to medium (no idea if that affects anything though).

my 4770k oc to 4.3ghz is pretty close to running it full speed if you disregard the occational stuttering, but only with the D3D backend.

Hi everyone. My PC has
CPU: AMD fx6300 OC 4.2ghz RAM: 4gbDDR3 GPU: GTX470 It seems to be not good enough to play The last story smoothly. It is usually 15-20 fps in battles and huge scene. I have tried some version of Dolphin like r6505, r6515, 4.0,..., but there is no difference. Can i do anything to improve fps? Please help me. Tks for reading. 05-30-2014, 09:08 AM
Your CPU isn't strong enough. The Last Story is the most demanding game that Dolphin can play. You'd need an ivy bridge or haswell chip overclocked to insanity (like mine ) to have much hope for this game. And even my system has some slowdowns in later levels.

The Intel CPUs have a 20-30% higher single thread performance than the AMD CPUs at the same GHz. Having a dual core helps, but sadly more than 2 cores are next to useless in Dolphin. You might want to test the latest builds: https://dolphin-emu.org/download/ Dolphin switched to GitHub a while ago, and the GoogleCode versions are a bit outdated. |
