Quote:This FMV slowdown is actually GPU limited. If you lower IR to x1 it plays full speed. On x2 I get 25fps and on x3 I have 20fps. And that is on HD6790. The rest of the game is fine.
That's weird, the FMVs don't upscale do they?

I did mentioned somewhere on this forum a month ago, but until now no one else confirmed it, so i didn't wan't to report unconfirmed bug. And it seems that it's just that one movie sequence, after you hear "I can see the castle!".
It also occurs during conversations when the characters figures pop up in the foreground.
I might try lowering the IR. Beats having to constantly hotkey,. 04-02-2015, 10:40 PM

Hey man, I'm really really struggling to play this.
Even on 1x internal resolution I still need to switch EFB to textures constantly to get 30FPS. Apart from FMV sequences, even battles sometimes go sub 30fps. I am on a 4670k and a GTX670 2GB. Could someone please build that version posted earlier of dolphin which fixes all of this specifically for last story? 04-03-2015, 08:14 AM

As some people might know, that's already possible by switching between efb2tex and efb2ram via a hotkey. This hack just adds the convenience to not having to switch around manually between the efb modes. This might be really useful when the scene changes, and another party member joins the group. Please if someone could build this for example, I would be really really grateful. 04-03-2015, 10:24 AM

If audio's not stuttering when this happens, that's why. You *can* overclock the emulated Wii CPU to avoid these dips if your CPU can handle it, but if yours can't handle EFB to RAM (which it should, wtf), I wouldn't recommend it. As for reasons why your hardware isn't handling this fine, have you tried part two of the Laptop Performance Guide? https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-un...ance-guide ("Laptop" is irrelevant, it very much applies to desktops too.) If you already have, provide more info (e.g. Dolphin settings, CPU/GPU clockspeeds/temps as measured by specific tools like CPU-Z/GPU-Z/RealTemp). I see little reason why your hardware should be having issues with this game, even without mimimi's hack.

It can handle EFB to RAM. The problem is when using EFB to RAM, the FMV sequences and somethings in battle, things dip below 30fps which is very irritating since its noticeable.
My temps aren't going up at all. I have a silver arrow cooler so everything fine down there. My clock speeds are 4.2ghz overlock. my GPU is at stock. |
