Well, the most demanding game just got more demanding since LLE is required now to get full audio playback.

For anyone interested, I just posted a XBox360 Controller button texture pack for The Last Story. Full details here!

There is something wrong with the HLE audio on the latest revisions.
Some cutscenes have no sound with HLE. I pointed to this while I was testing the new Zelda HLE builds. With these builds, there is no sound issues with cutscenes. magumagu told me that the new-zelda-hle is based on a slightly older version of master. I think that there is a regression of some sort with the HLE audio on master. 01-12-2015, 09:24 AM
https://github.com/magumagu/dolphin/tree/idle-test this fixes the FMV audio issue, but causes GPU/CPU desyncs when holding tab.
Hi, i made a hack that allows to play The Last Story at efb2tex speed, without breaking the clothes. As some people might know, that's already possible by switching between efb2tex and efb2ram via a hotkey. This hack just adds the convenience to not having to switch around manually between the efb modes. This might be really useful when the scene changes, and another party member joins the group.
Since this is a hack, there will be issues. Please don't complain about those, and i won't do anything about them. If the clothes get screwed up somehow, restoring them should be easy though, just recolor the clothes via the game's menu. If efb2ram is used for something else than the clothes, that will most likely just not work. I won't provide a binary file, just the source code for the required changes. Do not ask me for a binary, and don't ask somebody to do it. If somebody feels like compiling this, and sharing, i won't have a problem with that, as long as the license(GPL) is respected. If there's a lot of discussion just about the hack, please make a thread instead of spamming the game thread. Thanks. @mods: If you think this should have its own thread anyways, feel free to do so. Sorry if i'm creating work for you. Changes for d3d: Spoiler: Changes for opengl: Spoiler: For people who don't understand how this works and why it won't end up in master, ever(!): 1. This hack has characteristics of the problem textures hardcoded, like their dimensions and their format. Those characteristics won't match the characteristics of other problem textures in other games. So it will only work on The Last Story. Stuff like this just doesn't meet Dolphin's quality standards. 2. This makes the efb2ram cache work in a different way, a way that's just not compatible with the way it works in the official builds. So why am i sharing this, if it's so horrible? - I like sharing stuff, even if it's not good enough to end up in the official builds. For people who need help compiling: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/w...or-Windows And if that's too complicated, check the forums, there should be some thread(s) about it already. And if there really isn't, make one in the support sub forum instead of spamming the game thread. Edit: Updated the original really horrible hack, with a less horrible, but still horrible hack. The old was very likely to have more bugs.
So I'm just curious, could someone point me to the direction of how I should set this up? Or a build that works for you and your settings?
No matter my settings, I can't get rid of any all stutters. Gtx 680 2gb, i7 3770k @ 4.4, 1866 ram. So the questions I specifically have: (ticked or unticked?) OpenGL or d3d? D3d seems faster so far Texture filtering? No noticeable effect Per Pixel Lighting? Same as above Skip EFB access? Ignore format changes EFB cache (I know it needs ram, without the toggle) XFB, virtual, real or disabled? Progressive scan? No effect so far. Then last but not least, when I messed with vbeam, everything got tons faster, but it sped everything up, so how am I doing it wrong? Should it be grayed, or ticked? If the speed up works (like doubling emulation speed, if I wasn't clear) do I have to mess with the framelimit? Even audio was sped up to the point of chipmunk dialogue, but showed 30fps with vsync on and frame limit at auto. And I also used dolphin builds 4.0-r5110 and last night I tried 4.0-r5252? And the audio problem still happens. So JMC47, if I go to that link, what do I do there? I opened it while on the phone, so maybe that's why I don't understand it. The audio works fine on lle (the middle option) however it does effect performance. (I know, duh) Should I use Xsound or OpenAL? I hear OpenAL is preferable because it allows for stretching during slowdowns, so if I'm stuck with LLE I guess I'll test it myself. Tl;dr, I'm looking for the most recent information I can get on optimizations and settings. If I'm expecting perfect emulation, as far as a consistent 30fps, is it possible? I know I'm asking a lot of questions but, I recently have been craving a good story and even though it's fine on my wii (is there a performance or iq gain on wii u?) Picture quality is nice, but what really takes me out of being immersed is stutters/freezes/whatever you call it. Thank you for your patience and understanding and seriously all moderators, developers and people who contribute, you're awesome. 02-08-2015, 08:23 PM
the game has been playable for a very long time,
PIKAPIKAPIKACHUUU!!! (I think I messed that one up) |
