would you have an insight why HLE cannot be fixed, or too complicated to be fixed. while there is a big hope of optimizing LLE to get somwhat closer to HLE speeds.
I see both are as hard, but maybe someone can shed some light why the future is LLE

Sorry for the noob question... but are Grand Stars special stars or ordinary stars ?
Because my game (PAL, r7489) crashes whenever I try to get the second star in either the second or first level. I tried different settings in the audio plugin, but nothing made it work so far. Yes, I am very well aware that this might seem like a dumb question because the name "GRAND star" would imply they're special (But those Luma things talk about POWER stars all the time anyway...). 04-30-2011, 08:43 PM

Probably the only major optimization left is to HLE certain irom functions. But... Speed gain for zelda type games will be 0%, only AX/AXWII will benefit. Accepted but low priority. That means it gets fixed when it gets fixed so no more complaining of HLE audio issues. To be honest I think having fast and compatible emulation should be considered. If there's a way to do it, then do it. If there isn't a way, then I guess we'll need to choke it up and deal with slowdowns. Not everyone can afford super mega awesome Sandy Bridge setups, and even on my Core i7 950 overclocked to 4.2 Ghz I get significant slowdowns with some games. Because LLE uses so much resources it makes it difficult to record with Fraps. The slowdowns can sometimes be major with LLE + CPU EFB Access + EFB to Ram. Does overclocking an i7-950 actually work for Super Mario Galaxy/Galaxy2 with LLE... was thinking about it but honestly there's not really any other reason to OC it so yeah, bought it in the first place for Emulation and some minor encoding xD

Sorry if this has been answered before, but it seems the problem with the Big Stars in SMG2 comes from the audio and its emulation.
Does this mean if the audio emulation is disabled (I guess "no audio output" is not enough ?) this would circumvent the error and you could play on ? |
