so it's not the projection hack that produces the crash, right? guess it must be some core issue...
btw, are you using save states? because if you do, DON'T At least the point where you get the crash, try to go there from a regular game save.

yeah doesn't sound like it, the hack shouldn't cause any crashes as far as I am aware. At most the only thing it could mess up is remove the wrong projection layer, which I have not seen happen yet. However, to be honest, I'm only a few hours into the game and haven't experienced any problems besides audio. If I experience any crashes that I can consistently duplicate, I will probably obsess over it and try to figure out a temp solution.
Right now there is an audio out of sync problem. Sometimes a black screen in the training room (after doing the double jumps), but that issue appears to be random (at least for me). Here are the settings that I use for this game: enable dual core enable idle skipping framelimit off skip gc bios enable openCL JIT Recompiler Lock threads to cores (OFF) Use EuRGB60 (PAL60) Direct3D9 Plugin: Auto (fractional) Enable CPU->EFB access Use DList Caching (gives me 10fps speed up on my desktop w/q9450, but 5fps slowdown on my laptop w/T9900) 16x ansotropic filtering EFB scaled copy Disable Fog Enable EFB copy to texture Use native mipmaps Overlay FPS counter DSP-HLE Plugin Enable HLE AUDIO Enable DTK Music Enable Audio Throttle 32,000hz XAudio2 Game Properties: Speed up disk transfer rate (this appears to be helping me with stutters or it could just be psychosomatic) Metroid Other M projection hack 11-13-2010, 01:51 AM
Wow, I just tried without DList Caching, and it significantly improved the stuttering. Hmmm, I don't really understand what this DList is anyway, but the caching doesn't seem to work optimally.

quick update...
there appear to be some random black screens that occur during gameplay...i think its based on some change of view, but haven't confirmed it yet. Sometimes switching between first and third person views will fix the problem without the need of a restart. Will try to resolve this as soon as I have time and can duplicate it on my desktop. Someone has reported the projection hack causing corrupt textures on the ice in sector 2. I have not gotten to sector 2 yet, but will find out what is going on soon (if I can duplicate the problem). |
