I don't think anyone's actually certain why. There's a lot of things better about Haswell, but none of them really strike me as reasons it could be 30%+ faster at Dolphin despite being ~10-15% faster at everything else!

I see. Oh well, may want to go ahead and upgrade soon then. I built my current rig for the sole purpose of getting the most out of Dolphin and PCSX2, and now I find out that Ivy Bridge isn't the bees knees. Great.

Seems like a lot of the new instructions might help a lot too. Anyway, my G3258 at 4.2GHz finishes in 5 minutes 2 seconds. I doubt it would make a real difference, unless you're running other programs at the same time, in which case you'd be getting a worse score anyway. 01-26-2015, 04:33 PM
The reasons an emulator is faster might differ a lot from other programs; for example, wider vectors aren't useful for Dolphin.

Umm... why is povray still being used? It's been superceded by a newer benchmark...
The only reason I never made a thread with said new benchmark is because I was holding out for it to possibly be included in the official 5.0 version or whatever the next full version is called. More info: https://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/is...d=6538#c22

This just crashes for me on a fresh windows 8.1 installation. I forget what I'm supposed to install to fix this.
