Tp is still quite laggy, but i guess its because im in Goron mines? Idk if that's supposed to be a well known place for FPs drops. And wind waker is completely fine. 31FPS all the time except for when in the sea 02-13-2015, 04:01 AM
Wind Waker is a lot less demanding than TP.
And what about the Config and Graphics tabs pictures? 02-13-2015, 06:49 PM

I kinda have the same problem. Generally, I can get 30 FPS with 2.5x Native but at times it will lag to 20 FPS. Checked the GPU load at it stays at 80% when it lags (though it should be 100% if the bottleneck's there). Had to set it to 1.5x Native for a consistent 30 FPS.
And I run Xenoblade perfectly at 2.5x. GPU's Nvidia's 750Ti and version's 4.0-5456 Edit: Nevermind. Figured out the problem. For some reason, the video card doesn't properly "shift itself" to a higher clockrate following the demand of Dolphin. When I set the profile to "maximum performance", the game runs smooth as butter. But man, I'm afraid it's not good for my card to be always set at maximum performance. Wonder why the driver can't detect the necessary power properly. And no, my temperature isn't the problem since it always stays at 40 C before I release the limiter. I just beat the water temple in this game (Of the thirst 3 temples so I'm about due to quit playing now like I almost always do). I have experience ZERO FPS drops while playing this game so far. I have a 4770k+HD7950 though as my system so maybe you just need a more powerful system? I'm playing at 6x IR btw. LoZ is supposed to be hard on CPUs(isn't it?) and the FX-8350 isn't really some amazing CPU or anything, especially since Dolphin favors Haswell processors (i*-4**** series processors) so much.. I wouldn't settle playing the game for anything less than perfect FPS though. (02-13-2015, 06:49 PM)talkingdolphin Wrote: I kinda have the same problem. As a hardware enthusiast (I rarely actually game sadly), I hear users talk about GPU temps all the time (usually to promote their favorite Brand/Vendor). GPUs (especially from Nvidia) are idiot proof. There are failsafes on GPUs to ensure that no matter what thing you do (no matter how stupid) it won't break. It's just too much to get into without posting a history lesson, but basically, don't worry about GPU temps unless it's actually outside of your operating specs (95C) consistently. It's a GTX 750 Ti... lol... not an R9 290x with a max OC and a voltage bump. You probably couldn't break it unless you actually were trying to. PC Gamers talk about GPU temps (Cpu Temps, Driver Overhead, blah blah blah) not because it's relevant to the situation (Really in 90% of situations, these aren't the limiting factors) but because PC Gamers will argue about just about anything. GPU 1 is at 70 C, GPU 2 is at 72 C (Both operating at the same speeds) and PC gamers can have a 10 page long+ debate thread about the two GPUs when to an actual person playing games, they'll never notice the difference between the two GPUs (That are both operating within their safe operating temps). That's just life as a PC Gaming enthusiast though. 02-14-2015, 03:57 AM
What you can do is create a profile for Dolphin in the Nvidia control panel so that only Dolphin forces the GPU to use high performance mode, instead of everything all the time.

XD I didnt know the best way to show you my Graphics and Config Btw. On Enhancements and advancements, EVERYTHING is disabled. So i didnt take a picture of it 02-14-2015, 04:09 AM

I am sorry for doing this, im not a computer genius. Im more of a Coder not a Builder. But my rig is able to play some of the newer games out that are hard to run on the highest settings without lag. For example Battlefield 4 and 3. Notoriously hard games to run on Ultra, but I am EASILY able to do this. And even record it. Another example is the new Tomb Raider 2014. This is known to be quite hard to run but i can run it on Ultimate everything on Ultra high graphics and V-Sync to be perfectly at 60fps. I apologize once again for quoting "Games that are hard to run, but i can run them on my rig." But i am not good with the hardware inside computers XD I am a software coder by day. (As in, learning it in school) and a gamer by night XD
I did look at your rig in your profile. I really hate to burst your bubble but it's a "low end" build.
The FX-8350 is the best "low end" processor". It's not even faster than an i3 in most cases or even a $70 Pentium Anniversary Edition CPU in most cases for gaming. If you didn't pick this processor up at a steep sale price, it isn't worth it. If you didn't OC it to a max possible OC? It's basically a waste. The GTX 750 Ti is well... a joke for any serious gaming rig, but it does job for Dolphin. Tons of more powerful choices in its price bracket as well, but well... PC Gamers rarely make the best hardware choices. So this issue is most likely two issues combined. First, Hyrule field is one of the most CPU heavy areas in the game that gets worse as the game progresses. Considering the FX-8350 is slower with a maximum overclock than the current 4770k processor I'm using, I wouldn't be surprised if you see games slow down. Dolphin Emulator likes Intel's Haswell Processors best so if you want the best from your CPU, you need one of those processors. Second, you're running videos in the background while doing this. This isn't a 100% no go, but it's just a variable. If your FX-8350 doesn't have cores dedicated to ONLY Dolphin.exe and things are being executed on those cores, then that can cause a dip. I know for me personally, certain sites/videos have no issue playing for me while others I have massive issues playing, but my experience on video playing isn't that accurate with modern rigs since I don't use my gaming rig to web browse. This isn't to say "OMG the FX-8350 is horrible!" For you, it probably works well, especially since the situations it slows people down in are situations with GPUs far more powerful than a GTX 750Ti. But I wouldn't kid yourself into thinking you have a beastly rig with it either that you expect to run everything. The FX-8350 is slower than an i3-4330 (entry level dual core intel CPU) for gaming(This is a roundup of games released in 2014. This situation is MUCH worse for the FX-8350 in Dolphin since Dolphin Emulator is designed to specifically utilization instruction sets that are present in the Haswell generation of Intel processors currently in use today, that aren't available on the old FX-8350 processor): The above graph looks better for the FX-8350 than it should. Certain games included in the test suite had a frame rate cap on them that didn't allow you to exceed 60 FPS. Looking at the last 5 game releases is far worse. The GTX 750 Ti Well... it's good enough for some people I guess. Not to make you feel bad or anything, just would want you to be real with your expectations running games, especially moving forward since it looks like you play modern games. My question is what type of video are you watching in the background? (Twitch Stream? Youtube Playlist? etc.) Do you have a program like MSI Afterburner that can track your CPU Utilization? Edit: BTW, when you say you can play games at 60 fps, it means absolutely nothing if you don't have a resolution next to that. 1440x900 isn't a very "demanding" resolution. |
