With the other pack covering so much, are these packs supposed to go together or something?

I made this pack before razius came out with his extensive, amazing new update. I'm blown away by the level of artistry apparent from using his pack and looking at his textures outside the game. His pack, once a HUD, character, and text pack with only a few in-game textures that I criticized for ignoring the style of the original game, is now a masterpiece of custom texture packing! If you want more backstory on why these packs are separate you can read through the comments on this thread. This pack is a complete pack that has a more purist take on the game so no they aren't supposed to go together but with some manual work you can certainly mix and match from these two packs, using my pack as a starting point or razius'. Be careful about using razius' full size pack if you want to avoid stuttering though. I'll admit that the stuttering is really only noticeable because of how audio drops out or distorts when frames drop in Dolphin. I doubt I would even notice a frame dropping here and there at 60fps and would be fine using the full size pack if this wasn't the case. So for now, if you want to use my pack as a starting point and mix and match from razius' pack, I think a good rule of thumb is just to manually resize the images from the full size pack to the max size you think they will appear in the game. Some textures like Mario's eyes, Mario's hat, and Yoshi's eyes should be much smaller. tex1_128x1024_m_9daceed30a9a686a_14 (contains shop banners, windows curtains, window shades, and structural wood elements) which is 1024x8192 is separated in game and appears frequently throughout Delfino Plaza. Even using this texture alone causes stuttering and I think how often it is used contributes to that compared to other textures that may be 8192x8192 but are only used once or twice in an area. I resized it to 512x4096 and the game ran smoothly. I made a hybrid pack for personal use (couldn't post it here because of copyrights) and it only took about an hour to manually optimize the razius textures I used for 4K. If you're curious I used his text textures, character textures, save block textures, and a few in-game textures.
I over exaggerated in the past but it was because you didn't PM me to ask about repacking the files. For the time being, before i'm gonna release the final version, you can post the optimized pack, even with your textures where i didn't retexture stuff. Guys did that in the past with my pack, they converted it for the new format (i didn't do that) and they even fixed missing files and added new ones i plan on using (i think i removed them from the alpha release for the time being since i wanna personally contact them to ask for permission).
I wanted to send you a PM for the past few days but kept delaying it and in the end i decided to do that once the beta version is released. Just noticed i can't send you PMs. Hit me up if you're interested! 03-08-2017, 09:54 AM
could I dump you some Japanese textures for you to improve on your own time. I actually own all 3 versions of Mario Sunshine.

Are you saying I can release an updated version of my pack with your textures that I either resized or didn't modify? Also what do you mean by for the time being? Yeah, it is sort of an open source if it's a community pack, look at Pape Mario TTYD. Im quite busy IRL and im aware i won't be able to fully retexture the project and wouldn't be fair to hold the community captive, playing a game half retextured by me and complete it with yours. i'm also a fan of open source in general. For the time being because... i wanna make this a community pack so there would be no point in having 2 texture packs for SMSS around, if we can both work together towards the same goal. We can have a main set of textures where we both agree (such as fonts, there would be no point in u reworking them) and where we don't agree we will release Version 1 and Version 2 so ppl would have to pick one in order to have those textures. And even if we agree on a main texture, we can still add variation that are optional (such as my old HUD). Since it's gonna be a community pack, and we clashed in the past, i think it's better someone else (other than us) manages it, such as Bighead or Invader (didn't ask them and i wont want mentioning their name to feel like a form of pressure). This means i will close this thread... but only once the pack has a first final version. After which , even textures i will add, will be added as a contributor, not owner, and the one managing it will have to sort and pick where to add them. I just woke up, might not make much sense what i;m saying. If you really like the style and wanna work on completing what's gonna be a community project, hit me up and i can share the whole process (it's rather simple). This way, if u like the flat format, you can also add a flat version for the whole pack... for those who like that cartoonish look. I just wish this game was reworked with really detailed 3D models so that everything was achieved through the models not the textures. Also, this way (being a community pack), maybe someone who's actually good at vector drawing (i'm too much of an amateur to be able to do that) can rework the FLUDD icons. So, PM me if you're interested. 03-08-2017, 10:31 PM

I'm glad you two got things ironed out. I really thought you both were talented texture artists and it would indeed be impractical to have two half-finished texture packs instead of one finished one.
