I've played through it on dolphin and currently am on Wii U and I say go Wii U version. The Wii U version has a number of QoL improvements such as smaller hud, gyro controls, item swapping on the fly, annoying graphical effects reduced, instant wolf transition, built in hero mode(possible with AR codes), stamps to fill the countless rupee chests in the dungeons, amiibo support if that's your thing, the choice between third and first person aiming, and, IMO, the textures fit the original artstyle and flow together better than any dolphin texture pack has, not to discount the texture creators work as some of them do look really good, I just think they nailed the HD textures in the Wii U version.
Should I play Twilight Princess on Wii U or on Dolphin with HD textures?

If you *only* care about visuals and nothing else, Dolphin.
If you like the QoL improvements and the neat gamepad implementation, Wii U.
none of the HD texture projects are 100% completed.
some of them still use vanilla textures and on the official HD release they replaced almost all of the textures. Beside of that the hd remaster uses higher detailed vanilla textures, hd projects replaces them with different textures. Then again, the HD remaster does not use any kind of antialiasing. they should at least of used some kind of FXAA. 10-04-2016, 07:30 PM

This on top of that all the texture packs out there atm lack a coherent look some even look like a brightly colored thrown together patchwork carpet *cough*4k textures*cough* and even the best ones like hamasaki's are totally unfinished and have terrible looking areas, if you care about that go with the WII U version. Btw apart from some minor music/audio stuttering here and there the game works very good and always full speed in Cemu you can even add FXAA via Nvidia control panel. |
