Dolphin doesn't even know what AHBPROT is, let alone implement the hardware that it restricts access to.
Run Homebrew Channel without NAND dump?

Funny, I don't recall Riivolution ever complaining about not having AHBPROT access.

I've updated to the first post to clarify in more exact detail of what it is I'm doing. And tueidj, considering that you came up with the exploit used on the newest Hackmii installer, that by association puts you in cahoots with the very HBC devs that implemented the Dolphin traps. http://hackmii.com/2012/12/hbc-release-for-a-new-wii-u/ Wrote:we have a new release with a new version of The Homebrew Channel; this will install on both Wii consoles, and inside the virtual Wii sandbox inside the Wii U. The installer (where the exploit is used) and the channel are two separate things. B) The so called "traps" were implemented ages ago before that release. C) Who gives a shit? It's not uncommon knowledge that my apps regularly break Dolphin, anyone who thinks otherwise obviously hasn't tried to play Desert Bus. 02-03-2014, 08:15 AM

Why is it so hard for you to believe that while I was fiddling with Devolution in Dolphin that I felt like wanting to try to get Riivolution working in Dolphin as well? And don't you know what a "test" is; Devolution doesn't need to fully work in order for it to say that AHBPROT is or is not enabled. (02-03-2014, 05:04 AM)tueidj Wrote: A) Um, no? What you even referring to then? Devolution, Riivolution, and the Hackmii installer don't exactly "break" Dolphin rather than are more of just incompatible...

Oh look, you edited the OP again to make your story seem more plausible.
It's well known that Riivolution patches IOS to do its work. Dolphin does not emulate IOS -> dead end, unless you're willing to add an entire ARM emulator core yourself. Riivolution never complains about AHBPROT not being disabled and I've already told you it has no meaning anyway since the extra hardware that would ordinarily be enabled doesn't exist under Dolphin, so assuming AHBPROT is preventing Riivolution from working is a flawed assumption making your "test" completely worthless. But of course you're not really interested in Riivolution... Again, why is it relevant who or what I'm associated with? You seem to be implying that there is something wrong with the actions of the HBC developers. I may as well suggest you're associated with tentacle porn since your avatar is a manga character. 02-03-2014, 01:16 PM
Just curious and I'm sorry if it's a dumb question: Why would one put code in the homebrew channel to keep it from running on dolphin?

The only way it could be considered "dumb" is if it's already been answered, which at point has nothing to do with the actual content of the question being asked. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (02-03-2014, 12:44 PM)tueidj Wrote: Oh look, you edited the OP again to make your story seem more plausible. Because it's a crime to try, right? If I followed your logic then I would have never discovered that my wireless mouse that is supposed to take two AA batteries will actually run on only a single AA battery. Alternatively I would have never discovered that if you copy a partition that has Devolution verification files on it to a new volume via GParted, and then even resize that partition, you will not have to re-verify any games for Devolution. I tried to get Devolution to work, it failed, but discovered in the process that it specifically states if AHBPROT is present. Since it requires fiddling with SD cards and homebrew and I had gone most of the way for that already, I figured I would see if I can get Riivolution working while using Devolution as a test to see if AHBPROT gets enabled if/when I can successfully lauch a homebrew app. Riivolution also failed. I then asked about the HBC on here, and in the same thread asked about ABHPROT and later specifically about Riivolution patches in general. Must I tell the internet every little bit of my thought-process and every little action I do in my life? (02-03-2014, 12:44 PM)tueidj Wrote: Again, why is it relevant who or what I'm associated with? I have no issue with you trying to make it work, but stop misleading people and wasting their time with made-up stories; if you were trying to use a Riivolution patch set the first step would obviously be naming the game and mod that you're trying to use rather than jibbering on about HBC and AHBPROT. |
