Good stuff. With Vulkan now possible and Metal being implemented, Mac port of Dolphin could shine again.
Too bad this solution doesn't comes from Apple (Vulkan still not being officially supported and OpenGL not being maintained in favor of a proprietary API, sure it's a d**k move M. Cook). I'm still tempted to buy a Mac for digital drawing and development purposes.
From France with love.

There are no plans for Dolphin to use MoltenVK. MoltenVK is a translation layer, it's not magic. The end result (assuming a good implementation and no bugs) would be the same as just using Metal directly, but performing the translation from Vulkan to Metal takes additional time and resources that you wouldn't have to spend if you only used Metal. If you are a game dev, and you don't want to bother with learning a new API but you want to get better performance on Macs than the ancient OpenGL version there provides, MoltenVK is well worth it! But since Stenzek is already working on Metal... MoltenVK would just be worse. There's no point.

Oh, so it's a Vulkan to Metal wrapper ? I see...

Just moved from an ADSL2 24mbits/1mbits (real speed about 4 down/1 up) to 100mbits up/100 mbits down fiber. My god what a difference, it is like night and day. The adsl was connecting anywhere between 1-6 mbits usually and it was quite unstable as well, this is rock stable with up to 100x faster uploading and at least 15x faster downloading. The jump feels similar going from pstn to adsl, you never want to look back once you experience it.
I share your pain. I had exactly the same situation half a year ago. Everything goes such much faster with fiber-internet. You never want to go back anymore after having experienced such fast upload and download.

Happy Birthday, NaturalViolence! You'll probably see this months later given your activity here
