As for the AMD thing, I've seen it as 'Haswell-like IPC' more frequently than any quantitative value. At least with Dolphin, AMD are at half the IPC of Haswell, so a 40% improvement won't cut it. When they've given estimates of the performance of their last few generations, it's turned out not to match up with reality. Even if I'm not likely to buy an AMD chip for a long time, I really hope they're not bullshitting, as extra competition is either going to bring down prices or bring up quality.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X RAM: 48GB GPU: Radeon 7800 XT 05-12-2015, 07:14 AM

Some leaked benchmarks show something like 10 - 15 % if they are actually true, and we don't know how it will be with dolphin, it might be even more like what happened with Haswell. So yeah even a 40% boost by AMD won't be game changing with emulators and with dolphin in particular. AMD Zen CPU and APU: * 40%+ IPC increase over their latest CPU arch. ("Excavator"). The latest desktop CPUs use outdated "Piledriver" arch., (2 generations behind) * Double the floating-point performance (2x more FP EUs per core) * Super low-latency caches * DDR4 support * AVX3 (AVX-512) support * Improved Turbo Boost * HyperThreading (SMT) instead of HybridThreading (CMT). [this is a downgrade] * Octa-core with SMT (16 threads) * APU: Latest GCN GPU with HBM(2?) memory on-board and HSA 1.1 * Relatvely low power consumption * The first design based on Zen arch. is a pure CPU (without iGPU) Looks like a next-gen Athlon Thunderbird to me. If all of this is true, the APUs based on this Zen architecture are going to kick some serious butt
happy bday extremedude!
guys i got desmume to work in wine and play @ full speeds. the only problem is if i try to change any settings it crashes. which is probably a bad thing
