I have to be honest I feel more comfortable on this forum than anywhere else on the internet. The people here are amazing, accepting, and helpful. EDIT: Ninja'd 01-18-2015, 01:54 AM
Seriously though, for as long as you've been a part of this community and what you have contributed, you don't deserve any funny looks or negative comments or anything of the sort. We're all here because we love one of the world's best emulators (if not THE best).
Besides, just ban anyone who gives you grief 01-18-2015, 02:33 AM
Is there some sort of stigma associated with females who like gaming and emulation? You've always been a good person to people here on the forums, so unless someone has a hatred of females who plays games, it's fine

Obviously I avoid those, but there has been a lot of coverage on the subject in recent months. 01-18-2015, 03:24 AM
I guess I spend too much time on these forums because everyone here is very accepting.
And yes, there has been a lot of female gamer related news, most notably that I can remember being "gamergate" 01-18-2015, 03:32 AM
Everyone knows that there's no grillz on the internet. Duh.
In all seriousness does it really matter on the internet whether you are female or male? No one really knows unless you prove it to them. 01-18-2015, 05:04 AM

I should know better by now than to doubt the awesomeness of this community! There are two reasons why anyone thinking we would care baffles me: 1. We have several "openly female" devs that are really popular here . 2. Sexism on internet forums, particular well moderated ones, is from what I can tell extremely rare. The chan boards (4chan, 8chan, etc.) if you count them as a forum are really the only examples I can think of off the top of my head where I have encountered any at all. And I've visited quite a few forums in my active days. You'll occasionally hear about the "rampant internet/gamer culture of sexism" on news outlets and social media sites that require a constant source of drama to boost ratings but I have yet to see any hard data backing this up or personal observations of it being "rampant" outside of a few select communities that nobody cares about anyways. I don't deny that it exists but it is heavily exaggerated by these outlets, sometimes to completely absurd levels. Maybe I'm "biased" as a dude but I just don't see it very much. Besides most of the internet is "genderless" with few people even bothering to list their gender and everyone is kind of assumed male unless otherwise stated. Which seems to work surprisingly well in most places. And on top of everything the vast majority of communities have strict instaban rules regarding sexism of any kind! I fail to see how being female is a very long story. Huh I agree. Until we have details it makes no sense to me why someone would care enough to hide this or think that we care. KHg8m3r Wrote:Is there some sort of stigma associated with females who like gaming and emulation? For the most part no. See above. DatKid20 Wrote:No one really knows unless you prove it to them. And since guys can dress up as girls and vice versa there is only one form of 100% accurate proof for this. And if you post it anywhere you get banned. So in reality you can't really prove it to anyone. Making this even more of a non-issue.
