Shonumi then i suppose you won't like Agatha Christies novels either, they are all like that, you are never given enough info to guess the killer correctly.

I have never read anything from Agatha Christie actually :p
But it's not that I didn't like not knowing who "Big Bad" was until the end, it was just that not really knowing who it was until the end took away the suspense and anticipation. If you are going to do a "surprise, I am evil" plot-twist, it has to really blind-side you, which was not the case in TLS. It was kind of just "pops up" to stitch some loose ends together. It struck me as cliched and flatly executed. 10-12-2014, 08:40 AM

I remember one user that asked for Dolphin's Wii support to be revoked or disabled optionally because they believed that Dolphin had gotten slower since the early days when it was just a GC emulator and that Wii support was the culprit. I'm not joking, and I wish I were

Because it's completely inconcievable that someone would still be limited by D3D9, end-of-life OpenGL drivers, WinXP or a 32-bit OS, right? Don't act as if these speed improvements were free without any penalty, not everyone can just dump the latest dev build on top of an old one.

Yes but as I said expect toaster level performance out of toaster level hardware. If they are still on such hardware, operating systems they really shouldn't even be trying to play pc games let alone a resource hungry emulator. Windows XP is over a decade old and end users should not be using it anymore especially if they have modern hardware. Using an old build is not really going to help their case if they have crappy hardware and/or an ancient os.
Btw I'm referring to older builds being suggested to members with perfectly capable hardware that can use a 64-bit os. Just because the emulator might be running a bit slow someone suggests using an older build. Hardware and operating systems that can take advantage of speed improvements are years old now so anyone attempting to run the emulator on anything older really shouldn't. They wouldn't try to run Crysis on a system from that era and I imagine if they could it wouldn't be very enjoyable, same concept with Dolphin sorta. 10-12-2014, 11:07 AM

And how were those framerates collected? I seriously question the accuracy of this given that it does not match my personal observations.

Yeah true. Although anyone can afford to upgrade it's called getting a job or doing odd jobs for people and saving up. I don't know how it is elsewhere but when kids want something I see them doing stuff like shoveling snow, cutting grass or other yard work, allowance from parents or have parents that'll buy their kids anything.
Btw anyone else stoked for The Evil Within? It's a 31GB Steam download which is smaller than most expected it to be. Being under a cap for some odd reason I accidentally managed to burn through 15GB for some inexplicable reason despite throttling the download. The download was running for about two or three hours, started after 3AM and woke around 6AM to find 15+ GB gone to the game. So now I only have 15GB left to go which should be completed by next week since I'll be getting sat internet with an unlimited off peak zone. |
