If the nslookup is wrong, either dns is being hijacked, your dns cache isn't cleared, or you're still using the ISP servers. If telnetting the real google servers results in a HTTP redirect to the ISP servers, you're being hijacked by your ISP. 09-29-2014, 08:33 AM

Anyone know how to make a uBuntu netbook with built in WiFi work as a wireless receiver for another computer? I've arrived at university, and the wired network requires some kind of setting up before it'll do anything (I don't havemy welcome pack with instructions yet), but the wireless is fine. Basically, I need the following:
Wireless <-> Netbook <-> Cat5 cable <-> Desktop I've not tried just plugging the cat5 straight between the two computers, as I don't see it working without me telling uBuntu it needs to do some kind of passthrough. I've tried google, but can't remember the word for a thing that does the opposite of a wireless access point, so it didn't get me far.

It's backwards but essentially seems to be the same.

AnyOldName3: I dunno how to do it with Ubuntu, but if someone's willing to lend you their MacBook (preferably one that's not too thin to have an ethernet port), you can just go to System Preferences > Sharing > Internet Sharing to set it up.
Also, not having a Wi-Fi card in any computer these days is kinda stupid.
