Xtreme2damax Wrote:I meant when I mentioned my temps before I believe I was referring to the OC'd temps which aren't that much different from stock, either way idle temps hover around 40C.
Again idle temps don't matter. And don't tend to change much when overclocking.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:Likely I need a new cooler to adequately cool the cpu, obviously nothing is wrong with the cpu as everything is quite stable. Maybe my place is too warm to cool down below 40C with the current cooler.
Unless you are literally living inside an oven this is very unlikely.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:- Yes voltage was on auto for the C2D, didn't see a need to change them since it was stable.
Auto tends to set the voltage way too high. Which in turn causes the TDP to skyrocket.

If only we had a stickied thread for that!

It felt especially good because I'd sort-of got him and neobrain briefly confused, and neobrain had once given me a stern telling off when I was new and made a mistake in a support thread.

It is isn't it?
Shonumi Wrote:The only thing I learned from NV was how to make a decent WoT response :/
I'm pretty sure you were doing that before you met me considering you were an English major.
Shonumi Wrote:Honestly though, when I first came to these forums, I was impressed by how much people like neobrain, NaturalViolence, skid, and others knew about their subjects of interest (emulation, computers, hardware).
I'm not even that knowledgeable. I just know how to google shit before posting. I continue to be stunned to this day at how nobody seems to be able to do this. 99% of the questions asked on any forum can be answered by just copy/pasting the thread title into google and reading the first three entries. By contrast skid and neobrain actually create useful things. So it's strange for you to lump me in with them.
Shonumi Wrote:That's kinda what spurred me to get into programming emulators. I said "dammit, I want to be cool and knowledgeable too!"
You are/were cool in your own way. No programming needed.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:did you see the screens I posted and do they look okay?
My opinion remains the same. Those temps are acceptable but not ideal.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:Maybe the board itself causes the cpu to run a bit hotter?
A high end board can give off more heat. Which slightly increases ambient temperatures inside the chassis. But that has a very minimal effect on cpu temps (1-3 C tops).
