Hey, how can I permanently fix the 24-pin connector from the psu to the motherboard? This damned thing makes the system shut down, the pins on the wires are receding further in the holes causing a loose connection to the connector on the motherboard.

God damnit I'm pissed now!
I was trying to fix the connector and a piece of plastic broke from the pin like butter. Guess this was for the best so I can choose something other than Corsair this time around. So the two things I need now are a new tri channel ram kit and psu. Sorry but I will be MIA from TF2 and won't be on as much until this is sorted. May have to see if my land lady has a bit of work that I can do to cover the cost. 08-17-2014, 10:25 AM
Just FYI, that doll article was from the Daily mail, and under no circumstances should you read a single word they output if you don't want to be turned into a racist homophobic nutjob that is incapable of rational thought. They're pretty much the worst example of British tabloid journalism, and should be avoided at all costs.

Well, I'm using a Rosewill Capstone, which is a rather high-quality series of basic 80Plus GOLD PSUs without modular connectors, lights, pwm fan control, or any of that other fancy expensive stuff that you don't need. Inexpensive as far as gold PSUs go, also less expensive than some low-level bronze stuff from brand-heavy brands like Corsair and XFX. Muchily recommended, if you don't need absolutely top-end performance, massive maximum capacity, or modular connectors.

Thanks, will look into that. Although modular is preferred because I can add or switch out what connections I need or don't need.

Don't get Triple Channel RAM. Your choices when upgrading will be limited.
Corsair still "makes" the best PSUs so I'd go for a CX or RM. 08-17-2014, 11:08 PM
Well my current motherboard supports tri channel ram and as long as the motherboard works fine without failure I won't be upgrading mobo or cpu until at least when the warranty finally runs out on the motherboard. I have a crap load of games yet to play so it's just a waste of money to keep buying new games unless it's something good I really wanted to play. My current specifications are good enough for running at least 98% or 99% of my games on high or max settings except Tomb Raider (for some reason sli causes glitches and severely degrades performance), Crysis, Crysis Warhead and other games. Since I can get tri channel up 12GB or 24GB that's what I want to do for the time being. The Sabertooth X58 aren't quality board with decent quality assurance and control, several have issues out of box and end up RMA'd to be replaced with another dud. Two I purchased went bad but now I'm rolling dice with RMA and replacements being unsure if the boards are new or used refurbished or that I'll finally get a good board that will last a while. Going to do what I can to eliminate user error so I know the issue is definitely the boards. So far no issues with any other board but these so it seems likely I received bad boards.

I am wondering something. What wattage power supply is recommended for an overclocked i7 system with 2x GTX 460's in sli, fans and four drives three being hdd's and one Blu-Ray drive?

800-ish to closely hug it and 950+ if you like your eyebrows

I see, well I'm going to have to make do with a 750w power supply since that was what I could afford. Maybe I was being a bit forceful with the connector when I pushed it in or wiggled it too much but the psu's have had great reviews. In this case the psu was at fault but as I said it may have been my fault and a bit to forceful or fidgety with the connector causing the pins to recede in the holes. This psu is corsair as well but I think I should be fine if careful, the Sabertooth X58 boards were the problem.
