>still having to use NDISwrapper
That honestly sucks. The first time I tried using Linux full-time (Ubuntu 7.04 at the time), I remember never being able to actually use my shitty old laptop's built-in Wi-Fi, despite days of finagling with NDISwrapper. I eventually gave up and got what I *think* was one of these things: http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support...s/WUSB300N
I got off easy when I installed Arch last year, though – my MacBook Air has a Broadcom chip so I had two decently-functional drivers to use; I used broadcom-wl for everyday use and b43 only for cracking WEP networks (since it for some reason couldn't connect to my home router at distances longer than the 5 GHz range, and it's one of those fancy Apple routers that does both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz on separate antennas, so it was clearly confused). https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Broadcom_wireless
