The RM series are pretty good though

Oh and temps/voltages were fine, I have air conditioning going if it gets too hot and there is adequate ventilation for the psu. I could've ran everything at stock without ever changing voltages and overclocking, likely wouldn't have made a difference. The replacement Sabertooth X58 was defective and in fact it's been since I received it by no fault of my own. Reading up on from searching it's a common issue with the Sabertooth X58 boards, half of them are DOA or have issues with ram or don't last long usually failing around a year due to electrical faults. Asus quality control apparently sucks and there was some issue at the factory with the solder joints. Obviously there's a reason the board has a five year warranty when a warranty is usually for one to three years, same deal with the power supply that is under warranty for seven years. I also read that apparently there is some incompatibility between the Corsair TX/HX series power supplies and the Sabertooth X58 boards so go figure with the issues I'm experiencing that doesn't seem far from the truth. Although I'm thinking this psu is fine and for some reason one or more pins on the 24 pin power connector is pushing out and not making a good connection, causing the system to shut down. I pushed the wires in on connector then held them as I plugged it into the motherboard and have been running the system for hours each time I power it on; prior to that the system would shut down near immediately either during the Windows boot screen or a few minutes tops after getting into Windows. 07-11-2014, 11:56 AM

Quality control is individual to each product, just thought you should know that. For example, MSI has impeccable quality control on their high-end boards, but their low-end boards end up like mine. My motherboard would fry instantly if I were to successfully utilize an advertised feature of it, thank god my board was faulty.
in a perfect world we would all be piles of sand with no ability to form coherent bodies of body

The question remains if I can still rma the board if I neglect to mention the psu. The board was faulty anyway so I think I should be ok but I wasn't expecting that run in with the psu and I hope I can still rma since I need to test the i7 to see if that was fried. If not it looks like the board was the only casualty although I still have one more GTX 460 and hdd to test but everything else survived.
Edit: The redeeming thing about the Sabertooth X58 board providing I can get one that doesn't fail is I can get a decent overclock with lower voltages and totally stable. I ran a 4.2Ghz overclock with 1.27500v QPI/CPU voltages and for 3.8Ghz 1.27500v QPI and 1.22500v CPU was stable. Now if I can fit it with a decent air cooler everything should be icy cool so long as I keep the inside of my home cool. Next week I should hopefully be getting a new air conditioner as the one I have now is a tiny 5,000Btu window air conditioner that is likely failing. 07-11-2014, 02:22 PM
I have an off-the-shelf Thermaltake TR2 430W power supply hooked my C2Q desktop that stays on almost all the time. It was an upgrade when the C2Q went in to replace a failing C2D

Why do people find Super Mario Land 2 better than its prequel? I mean okay the graphics are better and I must say the level design is pretty clever, but I still find the first game a lot more enjoyable. It's personal preference I guess.

So current psu seems fine and hopefully was just a loose connection.
Should I attempt to proceed with rma'ing the motherboard after what happened with the other psu? |
