What's a washer?

heh heh.
In the end, I just risked it. Plug in my computer, doesn't explode. Turn it on, the power light flashes and turns off. Argh, I forgot to plug in the secondary power connector to the mobo. Remove CPU cooler, plug in cable, remount cooler, it turns on. My hard drive is still at my laptop, though, and I don't know the best way to mount it to my computer. In this case, forgetfulness and not having a place to put my parts were to blame. EDIT 2014-04-20: The computer seems to work fine, don't know if/when it will blow up. I think it's rather unlikely the washer made it into the power supply, as its vents were on the bottom and back of the computer, not inside. Any other potential problems? 04-21-2014, 05:13 AM
Computers rarely asplode. I've shorted out a motherboard a couple times which still worked fine after correcting whatever was causing it to short out. If nothing overheats and no water gets on any components I think everything will be just fine.

It exploded, and now it's sitting in a pile of leaves beside the house, because nobody knows how we're supposed to properly dispose of something that uses electrolytic capacitors.

Plus it helps avoiding cheap and no name stuff and read reviews. I have and had old systems with the original hardware that still function to this day. 04-21-2014, 07:47 AM

Depends, though. Do you mean user reviews (got me a fire hazard PSU rated 4.6/5 and a data/sanity hazard mobo rated 4.9/5), or reviewer reviews (showed me that the mobo should be killed with fire, and the PSU wants to kill things with fire)?
(btw I'm free of that PSU now, I'm talking about the one in the leaf pile right now)
