delroth, will you now be getting every GC/Wii/Triforce game so you can work on Dolphin even more? :p
On that note, I wonder how legal it would be if you filled a HDD with stuff and shipped it to me. Not that I want any content from anyone, copyrighted or otherwise, it's just an interesting theory. Hope you enjoy your new place. 01-26-2014, 09:35 AM
I thought it might be that bad. I now need to judge whether or not the remaining controller chip is up to the job on its own. It's data sheet says it is, but at the very least I may have to rewire it a little. Then I'll have to charge it and discharge it a few times outside away from people before it can go back to living in my pocket.

Copyright infringement (in the U.S. at least) only pertains to the act of copying. If legal copies were made, but then those legal copies came into my possession by any means other than copying (e.g. someone sends me a disk from their country, or I go there and pick it up myself) I would assume that's fair game. Copyright infringement penalizes people for the process of making unauthorized copies, not for the possession of unauthorized copies. For many courts cases though, it's clear that obtaining an unauthorized copy means having done the copy process at some point.
The U.S. has different laws regarding the possession, sale, or transfer of illegal goods, but it's not clear if having someone send me an HDD disk from another more lenient country violates any of that. As long as the content itself isn't outright illegal (CP, classified docs, Dolphin Pro source code), the content itself is fine, I would assume. And since the copy process was none of my involvement (and was sanctioned basically by a foreign state as legal), I can't see myself being held liable for copyright infringement or conspiracy to commit copyright infringement. I care about it though because I like a country whose laws basically flip the U.S. off. I'm not a copyright abolitionist, but I think our copyright laws need serious ovehauling (life of author + 70 years? Seriously?). It's part of the reason I like to see Free Culture movements grow, and I try to contribute what I can too (my bad source code, poems, short stories, essays, etc). 01-27-2014, 05:53 AM

If I get desperate I could use my youngest brother's account, and have a few times, but I haven't for about 11 months, and he didn't have minecraft 13 months ago, so it's not like it was much more than the novelty. Still, I could get into it if I wanted to. Yeah I'm not even sure I would pay the current price for it. $30 is insane. I payed $10 for it back in beta and it seems like very little of value was added since then to justify the cost hike. The current cost is most likely due to its popularity increasing its perceived value. You could always pirate it. Notch openly encouraged piracy as a sort of demo back when he was in charge. And I doubt the new management is any different.

LOL. Nice to see you, ED2.
I think I'm back. What happened during my absence? 01-27-2014, 07:44 AM

Hmmmm. Let's see if I can remember. I don't even really know how long you were gone or can remember what happened when.
Stuff was removed to dolphin (consult googlecode, ZTP hack, d3d9, and VSH are among the casualty list). Stuff was added to dolphin (consult googlecode). Delroth swore he wouldn't come back to the project after the AXHLE fiasco and marked his status as away. All while being one of the most active forum members and later one of the most active devs. Looks like those voodoo rituals I did paid off. Good thing too, those lambs were expensive. Delroth made a new benchmark that's less stupid than the WW benchmark imo. New users are still asking the same questions over and over again. People have been emailing/PMing me things so stupid that I had to actually stop responding. Hmmm, what else. Oh, they fixed THIS: https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2014/01/06/...ly-demise/ And they're actually keeping up with the dev blog surprisingly well. So read that. Anything else I missed guys? Edit: Oh and delroth and shuffle gave a speech. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUYYppVyV-0
