How? Are the HDD bays in the way?

No, there's this cover plate at the end of the GPU and it's designed in such a way that I can't get the frame around the thing anymore.
Seriously, what the hell is wrong with my camera? I used to transfer images from it perfectly fine and "dmesg" says it connects successfully yet I have no way of accessing the images o_o
I finally managed to get those pictures from my camera (PTP ftw!)...
So, the thing is: I have this stuff, i.e. the frame where the GPU gets attached to. This image shows my old GPU (left) to my new one (right). The problem is that the thing on the left side of the left GPU (how's that even called?!) fit perfectly fine to the old GPU, but absolutely doesn't fit the new one. I dunno if it can be seen in the picture, the "thing" just can't be attached to the new GPU. (I guess this is my most vocabulary limited post, ever) 12-07-2013, 06:07 AM
That's odd. Most cases I see usually use screws in that area. How old is it?

I dunno, few years old I guess.
If there's no harm in doing so I could just use screws I guess, d'oh. Will try that for now. 12-07-2013, 06:10 AM
I'd really recommend you to get a Bitfenix Shinobi for Christmas though. I really doubt you have the right screws for that + it doesn't look like screws will fit there anyways.

Have you considered, oh I don't know, taking it off?

Taking what off? The "thing"? I was kinda worried about having the GPU just hang in the PCIe slot. that's kinda unstable when you consider that I'll flip the case by 90 degree in regular usage.

Is "PCI bracket" the term you're looking for, btw?

Not quite (although that one's good to know, too). I'm talking about the thing which makes sure that the PCI brackets stay at their place and don't move around wildly in the case (It can be seen in both of the screenshots I posted).
I have no idea why it was constructed this way. I never looked at anything from inside but this case, so I didn't know other cases just use screws for that purpose. |
