Quote:A year ago in November 2012, Nintendo released their latest home video game console: the Wii U. While most video game consoles in the past used controllers that are very basic, the Wii U took the opposite route with a very featureful gamepad: wireless with a fairly high range, touch screen, speakers, accelerometer, video camera, and even NFC are supported by the Wii U gamepad. However, as of today, this interesting piece of hardware can only be used in conjunction with a Wii U: wireless communications are encrypted and obfuscated, and there is no documentation about the protocols used for data exchange between the console and its controller. Around december 2012, I started working with two other hackers in order to reverse engineer, document and implement the Wii U gamepad communication protocols on a PC. This talk will present our findings and show the current state of our reverse engineering efforts. 11-20-2013, 03:03 AM
Good job delroth! Any way to link us to your presentation (text, powerpoint slides, video, etc) after you give your talk? They probably don't want you to share the whole thing until after you've actually given the talk, but waiting is no big deal. If I lived anywhere near Europe and had a valid passport, I'd like to go to a CCC one of these years. It's barely been a year yet you and your colleagues apparently have made a lot of progress; very impressive, all of you

What is the proper solder to use for soldering circuit boards? I am trying to touch up any major connections on the one board I have; if I can fix it I may be able to save myself money, I hope I didn't damage the board. Atm I am looking around for the proper tools, I am having trouble with my current solder flowing properly onto the joint so I am not getting a solid connection and the joint looks rough.

Use some flux when soldering. That helps a lot making the solder flow properly. Look on Youtube for explanations/tutorials/demo videos.
