Bought Tales of Xillia today. I'm liking it so far, only played for about an hour today (gotta do other stuff + work, and I can't play games at night when I get home, no TV in my room). I'll have to wake up early to play it tomorrow

Nice, I'm interested to hear your opinions on it as we kinda have the same taste in the Tales of games.
Are the skits, etc also voiced? 08-07-2013, 06:19 AM

Took me by surprise since not a lot of Tales games do that. Tales of Legendia, iirc, had voiced skits for like half of them for the first half of the game (the second half doesn't have much voice acting at all). Free running is enabled by default in battle (it's not a skill, no need for a special item, you learn how to do it in your first battle, not the 100th or sth) and that's how it always should have been. I'll talk more about battling tomorrow, I gather the system has some unique stuff that the 1st hour of gameplay doesn't reveal, thus I've not tried it yet. Graphics are nice, though I've only been to like 3 different locations. Voice acting is pretty solid, although I haven't gotten to the younger female characters yet, so I dunno if they've made them out to be annoying or not (haven't seen YouTube videos of this game either). So yeah, I haven't got enough of an idea about the overall game, but I'm impressed so far. I guess since I reserved a copy, I got the Limited Edition (or maybe I chose to get the Limited Edition, can't remember). Got a character booklet + a music CD. More swag for my RPG collection. 08-07-2013, 06:40 AM

Tales of the Abyss was already a great improvement over Symphonia. I'm sure there was a difference in price :p It was like $60+ over here with tax, but I don't buy PS3 games all that often. I think $59.99 is more or less average these days. I didn't pay extra for XBC or TLS and GameStop still gave me swag, go figure.

Whoa ho look at that. . Not only can you aim, but it's going so slow you can never miss! Now THAT is an enhancement.

Now THAT is an enhancement. It's running so slow because a) UBO support is not available on my current GPU/driver combination and our non-UBO codepath is crap b) it's running inside FifoPlayer c) it's running in single-core mode zfreeze support by itself hopefully will slow down emulation only a bit. I haven't really benchmarked it yet, however. |
