Agh why stare so hard D: Below is all relevant quotes from the conversation accompanies with my narrative on them: IlovetheGamecube makes a statement: IlovetheGamecube Wrote:Did you know it is projected in only a few years that there will be 40+ core CPUs? NaturalViolence asks for elaboration: NaturalViolence Wrote:Define "a few" and which type of cpu you're referring to. IlovetheGamecube posts source article: IlovetheGamecube Wrote:http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/12/i...processor/ NaturalViolence realizes that the invalidity of IlovetheGamecube's original statement should be obvious at this point. NaturalViolence, wondering why IlovetheGamecube hasn't just googled (or bing or whatever other inferior search engine you want to use) it by now decides not to post the answer since IlovetheGamecube should be able to figure it out on his own. He instead tells IlovetheGamecube what to do to draw the necessary conclusions and tells him to confirm that he has figured it out by posting it here. This ought to be a good learning exercise for him right? NaturalViolence Wrote:Check the date of the article. Then read the article. Then google the subject. Then tell me what you've learned. Google is too main stream and IN MY OPINION is worse than Bing. If you have a different opinion, GOOD FOR YOU. At this point NaturalViolence having still not received a proper response and watching an inevitable Bing vs. Google debate unfold questions why he even bothered in the first place. NV makes it very clear that he's still waiting. He also uses the opportunity to poke fun at bing: NaturalViolence Wrote:*NaturalViolence stares intensely at IlovetheGamecube until he finds the correct answer using his beloved bing This is basically what you should do whenever you are posed with a question that you don't know the answer to or are making a statement that you aren't sure about: 1. Open search engine 2. Search for related terms 3. Read results 4. Repeat as necessary Now go put some effort into it.

That actually made me laugh. I don't dislike mainstream things, I just think Bing is better than Google. My point was that many people have never used Bing once because the majority of people use Google. Therefore they are using what is mainstream, rather than testing out what is better and coming to their own conclusions. Sometimes "mainstream" encumbers the truth. Example: Ralph Lauren Polos are mainstream, and expensive. Unbranded or different branded Polos look nearly identical, but are a lot cheaper. Obviously they are a better choice (I actually wear Ralph Lauren though... But I also have Polos by companies such as Old Navy and American Eagle).
And I'll look into it more. So far I found that it is an ARM CPU, and some articles said it could be here in a few years. The articles are old, however, and it's been, "a few years". Therefore I can come to the conclusion that Intel has stopped working on it until a reliable source says otherwise. I can't, however, find anything that says that the 48 core project is dead. From an earlier post: IlovetheGamecube Wrote:I actually know a lot more than the average I just choose less mainstream things. EX: In my opinion, Firefox is better than Chrome, Bing is better than Google, Android is better than Apple, Old games are better than new games, and below the waist of a girl is better than above. This logic might work for some things but not Bing vs google. Google's indexing technology is statistically superior to bing. You're statistically significantly more likely to get relevant results (and more of them). That is not an opinion it's a fact. IlovetheGamecube Wrote:So far I found that it is an ARM CPU Wait what? Where did you see that?

Note mobile CPUs are not ARM based by default; ARM chips just happen to flood the market atm. Intel very much wants to increase their presence in the mobile space since it's seen crazy growth over the past few years. Who wouldn't want in on it? ARM based CPUs are being manufactured in competition to Intel's existing products like the Atom series (the competition is a bit one-sided in favor of ARM for smartphones and tablets). The company that licenses ARM designs (ARM Corp or Inc, or sth like that) is making good profits thanks to the market. Intel would need to become a licensee in order to design an ARM based CPU, hence paying one of their competitors in a market of extreme interest to them. It would be a risky, awkward move at best in business terms, and just bad decision making at the worst, at least that's what some analysts think. At any rate, I find it unlikely that Intel will go for an ARM based CPU over their efforts to make a fairly low-power x86 CPU for the mobile market. That's where they want to be (they've said as much). 03-02-2013, 05:43 AM
