I just want to point out the resolution you are trying to name off is 720p,not 740.

I found that the controls were perfectly fine, and I actually preferred the controls in Sonic 2006 compared to say Sonic Unleashed or Sonic Colors, especially the a button for seeking spin dash. The original Sonic titles I found were solid CRITIC wise, but were rather stale and repetitive, which prevented them from being fun to me. This is probably hypocrisy considering how you say that enemies and bosses are repetitive ad stale in Sonic 2006, but I always found that combat and platforming in 2006 was much more satisfying. As for the music and graphics, I do not care all the time about graphics so much as gameplay, but I have found that there is a limit to how low graphical and musical quality in a game can get before it becomes uninteresting to me. I am not impressed with the graphics or the music in the Original Sonic games, and I would consider them repetitive, annoying, and distracting from the game itself. Now Sonic 2006 is much better quality music and graphics wise. If you gave me a 740p or 1080p Sonic 2006, I could care less. But if the difference is 8-16 bit to a modern 740p display, I would choose the modern one everytime. The actual game feels rather rushed, I can agree with this. However, I feel that this game couldn't have gotten much better if the devs had spent more time on what really matters to me: gameplay and difficulty. I personally like really difficult levels, especially if the game catches you off guard with a really hard level in the midst of a bunch of easy ones. This was probably not intentional, but it was a major factor for me that made me enjoy this game even more. The levels I am referring to are the Crisis City levels and the Kingdom Valley Levels. I have found that with one touch of a button at the wrong time can seriously damage your rating at the end of the level. These two levels kept me stuck for weeks trying to get an S ranking, something I try to do for every level. I do not really know what people are talking about when it comes to glitches, as I have never encountered any after playing for a month or two, and the loading times I have never cared about, as any of my computer games for PC have far longer loading times with even worse graphics worlds and music. If you don't agree with any of this or want to debate, go ahead and reply. I do not care about criticism for this game, as I find it unique. Anyone who can master this game can aster most games, even through all of its issues. In short, yes it is unpolished, but just the fact that it is unpolished makes it all the more fun to go through and find everything in it that looks strange or interesting. If it was polished, the majority of the levels would be seriously altered to become more easy for beginners, with glitches and touchy controls interfering with people's ability to whip through levels in a mere 2 minutes. Sonic 2006 was one of the few games that made me stop and appreciate the environment and actually think before attacking an enemy, so much that it could have doubled for an RPG for me. OK, everyone probably thinks I'm a lunatic right now for saying all this, so fire away. Do I even want to respond to that pile of nonsense? I really shouldn't. This could very well be a well written troll post. But I'm mad as hell now so I'll bite. It is going to take me awhile to respond to this mountain of bullshit. Quote:I am not a game critic so I do not look at every angle for a good game. You don't have to be. I cannot comprehend how any human being could derive any enjoyment from this pile of shit. Quote: I found that the controls were perfectly fine, and I actually preferred the controls in Sonic 2006 compared to say Sonic Unleashed or Sonic Colors, especially the a button for seeking spin dash. The button mapping is fine. It's the movement that is completely fucked up in every way. Making it extremely difficult to make characters go where you want them to go. Or in the case of tails get the camera to stop having a seizure. Quote: This is probably hypocrisy considering how you say that enemies and bosses are repetitive ad stale in Sonic 2006, but I always found that combat and platforming in 2006 was much more satisfying. Well I don't know what to say to that because that's completely absurd. Apparently you find piss poor controls and constant glitches "much more satisfying" for some reason. But if the difference is 8-16 bit to a modern 740p display, I would choose the modern one everytime. This makes no sense. Processor word size != resolution. You probably just prefer 3D graphics. And although that's a pretty dumb opinion to hold I can accept that. Stating that you would prefer a 3D sonic over a 2D no matter how bad everything else in the game was however is not something that I can accept. Quote:The actual game feels rather rushed, I can agree with this. The game feels rushed because it's bad. That's the first sign of a rushed product, a product that does not meet expectations. Quote:However, I feel that this game couldn't have gotten much better if the devs had spent more time on what really matters to me: gameplay and difficulty. Then you fail to acknowledge the lack of polish in the most important areas of the game. Quote:I personally like really difficult levels, especially if the game catches you off guard with a really hard level in the midst of a bunch of easy ones. There is a difference between good difficulty (mastering skills that the game has you practice) and artificial difficult (poor controls, glitches, camera angles, lack of proper build up, etc. causing you to die regardless of skill level). Though at least they were more interesting than the god awful town missions that they kept shoving down our throats. Quote:I do not really know what people are talking about when it comes to glitches, as I have never encountered any after playing for a month or two, I don't believe you. The bugs are so numerous and major that there is no god damn way you made it all the way through the game without encountering at least a dozen. Quote:and the loading times I have never cared about, as any of my computer games for PC have far longer loading times with even worse graphics worlds and music. This game has 4 load screens per level. It even has load screens for the cutscenes and conversations with NPCs! And if you fail a level it doesn't give you an option to retry the level. No. You have to go through the 4 load screens again. On top of that it doesn't autosave anything except the main missions so you'll constantly find yourself redoing the town quests and enduring even more loading screens. At least 20% of the game is spent staring at loading screens. I have never spent more time staring at loading screens in any other game that I have ever played! Pardon my french but there is no fucking way that your computer games load slower than this no matter how bad your PC is or what games you're playing. You are either lying to troll me or you are delusional. Quote:If you don't agree with any of this or want to debate, go ahead and reply. Many of your statements lack common sense or are downright lies. If it was polished, the majority of the levels would be seriously altered to become more easy for beginners, with glitches and touchy controls interfering with people's ability to whip through levels in a mere 2 minutes. This has to be the most ridiculous statement in your entire post. You apparently want games to be a poorly designed buggy barely playable mess because that makes it difficult? Have you lost your mind! You can have a polished game that is still difficult. Dark souls is a wonderful example of this being done in a modern game. You're giving me a heart attack at this point. This game does not require a lot of thought. It does however require a mountain of patience and the ability to temporarily disable your prefrontal cortex during most of the game.
