You'd get it for cheap and the games nowadays are really inexpensive. It also has an established collection of RPGs worth playing. Not to mention MGS Portable Ops and Peace Walker :3 Until the Vita wows me with RPGs, I ain't gonna touch it (except at Best Buy when it's on display). Bonus of getting a PSP: play all of your games in HD with JPCSP, play on the go or at home (I think you can transfer saves?) 01-18-2013, 08:22 AM

I just hope the Vita gets more attention, especially from the Tales studios. :p How's that 3DS serving you? Satisfied with it? You get to play TotA on a handheld. :3 And there's some good titles coming soon. (Luigi's Mansion 2, etc) Quote:Not to mention MGS Portable Ops and Peace WalkerDamn, I forget about these titles. Unfortunately my PSP is dead due to me not having a charger to revive it. I should probably try them on JPCSP if they work properly. Also, Peace Walker is on the PS3 in the HD collection in 1080p! Haven't tried it yet either though. Quote:Bonus of getting a PSP: play all of your games in HD with JPCSP, play on the go or at home (I think you can transfer saves?)Yep. Pretty sure you can. Another bonus is that you can run custom firmware for homebrew and emulators and back-up games. No more UMD-disc loading noise. 01-18-2013, 02:25 PM
Alas, the only notable RPGs I've played on the 3DS are TotA and Kingdom Hearts 3D (the new Paper Mario does not count as an RPG, much less a game). I really should be looking at more games. I still have a massive backlog mind you. Just to name a few: Radiant Historia, Disgaea 2: DHD, Skies of Arcadia (almost done), Star Ocean 2, and Kingdom Hearts: BBS. By the time Monster Hunter for the 3DS comes out (the only RPG I've actually had a look at so far this year) I'll still be overwhelmed with my "to-play" list XD It's really a vicious cycle...
If a new Tales game comes out for the Vita *sigh* If only... Well, I'm waiting for Xilia to comes out this year so I can play both it and Graces f at the same time. I've seen the English screens, just waiting for the date. 01-19-2013, 03:57 AM

After quickly googling a few images, it looks pretty good. I've never (really) played a Disgaea game. I heard they were good though... I recently dumped Skies of Arcadia but still haven't played it yet. How's the story/gameplay? Maybe someone should create a thread for people to put their backlogs on so other can browse for titles/same interests etc. *HINT HINT* I think that'd be pretty interesting. Oh, Pokemon, if you're interested, is also coming out this year. Quote: If a new Tales game comes out for the Vita *sigh* If only... They even got Xilia 2 now >_> 01-19-2013, 07:15 AM

Well, truth be told, I haven't played it yet myself I'll let you know how goes. It was one of the last good DS RPGs released before the 3DS became everyone's focus. I've only done Disgaea DS, but if you're into SRPGs, they're pretty good. I've spent at least 115 hours in Disgaea DS. The humor is pretty good and it's got a surprising amount of depth. It's known for having ridiculous stats when you dig deeper past the main story (max level is 9999, damages from attacks can go reach 1 million) but it's got a lot of tactics. (01-19-2013, 06:47 AM)Garteal Wrote: I recently dumped Skies of Arcadia but still haven't played it yet. How's the story/gameplay? Well, it's certainly showing its age of course (graphics, voice acting especially), but there's more content here than I expected. It starts off kinda slow, but it's good-old RPG action through and through. Some of the characters have cliched attitudes (Vyse = "I never give up, gotta always try" for example) but on the whole it's a very enjoyable experience. (01-19-2013, 06:47 AM)Garteal Wrote: Oh, Pokemon, if you're interested, is also coming out this year. I'm too old for Pokemon. I mean that I've been there since the first generation, but seeing how far it's gone, I just can't keep up with every new iteration. 151 was cool, 251 was more than enough, but they keep adding more and more. That can't be healthy for the franchise in the long term, even if it reinvigorates the fanbase in the short term. Well, they have English screens, all we need is a date. For far too long this has been the situation with every good Tales game that never made it outside Japan: Spoiler: One more game that I am looking forward to on the 3DS is Fire Emblem: Awakening. Never played a FE game before, but whatever, looks interesting. Plus, comes out next month, minimal waiting and such. Also, in case you haven't heard, Pandora's Tower is getting localized. The US release date is March, EU and AU in April. If you've already played it, you can play it again, but understand what everyone's saying |
