Time to divulge my birthday spoils
Got a lot of books (I asked for that though, I'm a heavy reader) but my inner tech-loving self got a new toy, the MK803 mini PC. If you read my Raspberry Pi thread, you'll know that it's been my dream to get myself a device that I can just hook up to the TV and play my old games on emulators. Yeah, I know that's what my current desktop is supposed to be for, but my TV is way bigger than my monitor, and it's major pain to move my PC into the next room. The MK803's powered by Android. Never used that OS before, but it's way better than I thought. Almost everything can be controlled with a USB joystick, which is a major plus. No need for a mouse or keyboard, just a controller. That's exactly what I need in an emu-console. So far, I have played a bit with NES, SNES, GBA, and Genesis with perfect results. It'd be real sweet if I could do N64 (even just a bit) and get PSX running tomorrow. The only thing I don't have is time to play all of my games Also, bought the Christmas issue of Linux Format (my favorite source for Linux articles and tutorials) and there was a feature about the Liberated Pixel Cup. It had an interview with one of the people behind that effort (haven't read it all just yet), but as I looked at the picture, I was startled to realize that I personally knew the guy. Chris Webber used to (still does?) frequent the Linux User Group over at NIU, and I've had a number of discussions with him (some about gaming as well). It's just totally blowing my mind that someone I'm actually acquainted with made it into a magazine that gets published internationally, and one that I read often to boot. This has inspired me to work on my RPG, and I've already made more progress on the engine. 12-18-2012, 07:17 PM
^^ I know, playing ocarina of time on a 50" Plasma hooked up to a VGA cable via my laptop is awesome, even 1x IR on my laptop, looks like 2x on the TV.
