My cpu eist function which lowered clock and voltages when cpu is idle stop functioning properly suddenly with overclocking . Now i might have to change my cpu cooler from the default to keep the cpu cool for long periods of time.

What motherboard do you have? There's a few options you'll have to change to get SpeedStep to work again.

That didn't happen in the past, but after two years of overclocking i think my pc aged a bit probably . 11-28-2013, 03:31 AM
That's an odd issue. How much worse is the performance? Have you benchmarked it?
Your BIOS looks something like this I assume? Spoiler: Spoiler: 11-28-2013, 03:42 AM
Performance falls to about a third of normal with eist function enabled now, i would say that with the 4,2 ghz overclock seems like working at 1,6 ghz or something. And yes the bios is exactly as the pic you posted. You don't have a problem with cstates when overclocking? I will try messing with it and see the result. I also had real time ratio changes in OS disabled since it wasn't needed.

Nope, haven't had the slightest of an issue so far. It's all working great and stable.
Yeah the real-time ratio is only needed if you're going to OC from the desktop. Probably superfluous to ask, but have you reset your BIOS to the factory settings and checked if your stock clocks with EIST (which should be on by default) functions properly? Then try it when overclocked. What voltage are you on by the way? 11-28-2013, 04:34 AM

As for the voltage it is dynamic in my bios settings, i can't choose an exact value: http://prntscr.com/271awn The above setting gives 1,24v to 1,26v in practice for a 4,2ghz overclock of the 2500k.
Great, wasted my time listening for delroth's poking for once by preparing a 4.0.2 release, just to have the build bot failing at creating a 4.0.2 package for OS X and no one doing anything about it.
Meanwhile, the kiddies which are called developers randomly create issue status tags on our tracker just to make fun of a single pirate who reported an issue. I'd complain about how the whole project is just completely frustrating and annoying, but then again you could say I'm free to leave any time. Figured I'll just rant around here a bit, anyway. |
