I really needs a SSSE3 optimised build as I changed my CPU. SSE4.1 no longer works....

Use the SSE3 builds instead of SSSE3 if you can. Although I doubt you will see any performance difference between unoptimized/SSE3/SSE4.1 builds.

OK... but still there is no harm in asking...
I just want them to test my new CPU. I think I have reached saturation in gaming for now. I am on fast for new GPU. Cause it is better to eat when you are hungry... 10-02-2010, 06:25 PM
I always wondered... what to you upgrade when you make new revisions?
If you can make an "idiots version" of the explanation I would thank you since I don't know a thing about coding or anything. And if you can use puppets made of socks for explaining it, I would thank you even more. =P 10-02-2010, 09:02 PM
Basically, when there is even a slighest change in the coding, lets change a value of abc to 0 from 1, then a new revision is issued to test it. If it is good, then it is released out and work is continued. And if it fails, they try something else...

If you're cpu doesn't suppory SSE4.1, it doesn't support SSSE3 so you will need to use the SSE3 version, notice one less "S".
SSSE3 is only supported on Intel processors, specifically the Core2Duo (later models) , Core2Quad, Core i3/i5/i7. I'm not sure about the Core solo's or the Celerons and Pentiums that are based on the Core2 architecture. 10-03-2010, 11:43 AM

Intel cpus that support sse3 also support ssse3 such as mine. I've been running your ssse3 builds on my q6600 for months now without problems (q6600 does not support sse4.1 since it uses 2 conroe chips a.k.a kentfield). AMD cpus that support sse3 do not support ssse3 since at the moment ssse3 is an intel only extension while sse3 isn't. You don't need a cpu with sse4.1 support to use it. Well I thought I remembered PCSX2 developers stating that if your CPU didn't support SSE4.1 that the SSSE3 build of GSDX couldn't be used either, this was a while back though so I am a bit sketchy on the details.

Any intel cpu that supports sse3 or higher automatically supports ssse3.
AMD still hasn't added the extension. But they have said that their next generation of cpus based on bulldozer coming next year will be the first to support it as well as sse4.1/4.2/4.3/5 and avx (as well as a few others that are less important to us). However it is my honest opinion that ssse3 is pointless, not just in dolphin but in general. Lots of sites out there have done extensive testing and shown that their is really no reason to use it over sse3 (it is usually slightly slower than sse3).
