If I enable the Progressive Scan option in Graphics->Advanced and hold B when starting SSBM, the progressive mode prompt appears as expected. However, if I boot the game again, even if I don't hold B, the prompt appears again, whereas a normal GC would remember this setting. The menu also takes quite a long time to go away. The only way to get it to stop is to disable the Progressive Scan option, but I'd prefer to have my games running in progressive scan. Is there any solution to this?
Progressive Scan Prompt Reappears

Isn't that how it works on a real GC? I don't have an NTSC GC, so I can't say for sure, but that's how the PAL60 setting works on a PAL GC.
I'd normally say "Dolphin only outputs in progressive anyway there's no difference," but there's a slight difference now if you have the copy filter stuff fully enabled.
I think this is how it works on GameCube, if not, it may be saved to sram and we could be screwing it up. In True Crime: New York City, I get the option every time I boot up regardless of holding B after enabling it once (on a Wii, not GC, though.) 05-22-2018, 06:48 PM
Sorry, you're right, I misunderstood the explanation I heard. I thought what it meant by "remembered" was "remembered the setting and applied it automatically," but what it actually means is "remember to show the prompt without hitting the B button." My bad. By the way, what do you mean by "copy filter stuff"?

It's a feature of the GC/Wii that lets games blur the output image a bit (and also happens to let games do other things such as darkening the image). Typically, games use this when in interlaced mode but not when in progressive mode. It was implemented in Dolphin in https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/6369, but you can choose to disable the blur (without disabling the darkening etc.) in the Enhancements tab. There should be more details about this in the next progress report. 05-23-2018, 05:49 AM
Wow, I somehow never even noticed that checkbox. Thanks for the info, that's cool.
