Plugin Help

Hi. I have been trying to solve this forever. Every time I try to run a game I get the ever-so-common cannot start plugins, then can't init core, etc. I tried updating DX but the install keeps saying something about cryptographic file cannot be trusted... Please give me a link that answers my question, not just the getting started... I am currently downloading the 572mb DXSDK_Jun10 file, which I hope will work. I also tried downloading the latest file, but I got the 2 dll errors, downloaded them, then I got 0xcb000007b error. The one that gives me the plugin error is the r5152 old I know, but at least it opens. Please help. Thanks!
