How would I go about making the file sizes of each image smaller, I tried using some program called FastStone Photo Resizer and it works great, I set the resize option to 50% so an that 256x256 will be 128x128 where as the original was 32x32 so I'm getting something inbetween, the only problem I have is that the file sizes become slightly bigger with most images so can anyone suggest how I can make the file size smaller. It's probably the FastStone Photo Resizer that's the problem.

This should do it: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-un...ol-ps-v6-0
Intel i5-4690k (Devil's Canyon) @ 3.5 GHz (+Scythe Mugen) / Gainward GTX 1070 Phoenix (OC'd) / ASUS Z97 PRO GAMER / 16GB G.Skill DDR3-2400 CL10 TridentX / X-Fi XtremeMusic / Win10 Pro 64bit / Dell S2716DG Monitor / 3x original WiiMote+MotionPlus+Nunchuk

Where can I get ImageMagick v6 becuase I only see v7, also I just found PNGGauntlet which compresses PNG files so no need to resize but it's taking forever lol.
IM v7 must have just released today, I just checked yesterday and it was still at v6. Anyway here's a link to it until I get v7 working: http://www.mediafire.com/download/dc9w9b...64-dll.exe Out of curiosity, why do you want to make the file size of the images smaller? Trying to reduce lag/stutter? Smaller file size won't make a difference if the textures still have the same dimensions. Only DDS or smaller textures will help with performance issues.

Thanks for that, I thought it was about the file size thanks for correcting me and yes I'm trying to reduce lag/stutter. How do you create smaller textures by about 50% with the unofficial custom texture tool.
After getting it set up, you just choose option 2: Rescale Textures at Fixed Integer, choose a value to scale them, and then choose the output format (such as DDS).
The value you choose is multiplied by the dimensions of the original texture to ensure a proper aspect ratio. For example, if you choose 4x, textures that have the original dimensions of 64x64 will become 256x256. If you choose 8x, that same texture would become 512x512. The size of the custom texture is not even regarded, and will be scaled to some multiple of the size of the original texture. Many of the textures in this pack are created at different scales, many at 4x, many at 8x, and maybe some in between or higher and lower. Usually 4x is a good scale for 1080p and is not too intense. You could even try as low as 3x scale which would sacrifice more quality but be easier on the hardware.
DDS is much faster than PNG because the images are in a format that the graphics card can easily decode. PNG is much slower in this sense, but offers greater quality since DDS is lossy compression. A great article on DDS can be found here: http://www.buckarooshangar.com/flightgear/tut_dds.html (see: What are the advantages of DDS files and DXT compression?)

@TheCrach
By the way, according to your profile, you should have enough RAM to use the "prefetch custom textures" option. which would eliminate the stuttering.
Ok thanks I'll check it out, btw I'm watching the "~RescaledTextures (DDS)" folder and there's alot of duplicate images and the sizes are getting smaller. These duplicates don't exist in the original folder.
@Invader Yeah I don't have much issue with TTYD it's mostly Wind Waker by Hypatia. |
