Holy cow guys this is fantastic. Game is basically an HD version at this point. I wish projects like this got more attention they deserve it. Although with N doing its thing maybe we don't need more attention lol.
Paper Mario TTYD HD Texture Pack v2.3 (October 17th, 2023)
|
Okay, so according to what I've found on the game disc there are 17,393 textures in the game including duplicates. With duplicates removed the number becomes 9,282 (might be slightly off). Also keep in mind that not all the textures are used in-game and some aren't useful to us at all (for example a 16x16 texture of a solid color). There are currently 3,563 textures in the pack.

Out of those does anyone have any idea how many of these are say noticeably low res when playing? Is there a kind of roadmap anyone has for whatever comes next? Is there like two or three things that are horrible that need to be fixed in the next couple months? Or do people think what we have now is pretty HD at least enough to fit in with modern remasters to some degree in the texture area. 10-05-2016, 11:12 AM

Recipes and items still need some love. Long ago I did quite a few characters but there were still a lot that remained, its nice to see so many others tackling some of those recently. Unfortunately I lost many of the .xcf files which could have been used to simply recolor some of the alternative characters... A few months ago I tackled quite a few of the most noticeable environments in various places in the game, but I know there are still quite a few remaining. For example, I didn't board the train so none of those are probably done, and I never went to Riverside Station. I did very few in Poshley Heights and Glitzville. Others may have targeted those areas though. Based on what I remember being done + what's been done recently, I'd say its pretty close to being an HD remaster, actually exceeding an HD remaster in many aspects. There's probably a few textures though that could use a remake. I'd like to do a few textures for this game again eventually (unless everyone else doesn't beat me to it and finishes it ), we'll see how time plays out. 10-05-2016, 11:13 AM

I was just about to replay TTYD and found this, seeing how i can't/don't know how to make any textures, should I try to make a list of textures that could be improved? Either way I absolutely love this project and hope it gets completed

I'd like to point out that we are very close to having all the boss texture's complete.
If anyone would like to start working on: Magnus Von Grapple, Smorg (This is going to be really hard I'm not quite sure how this one would work there was so many individual smorg textures dumped when I played through this.) Magnus Von Grapple 2.0, Shadow Sirens and the Shadow Queen. I'll be starting Cortez tomorrow when I have time. \ 10-05-2016, 12:09 PM
I'll look into Smorg when I eventually get to his textures and assets. If he has a ton of textures, what is entirely possible is that he may be pulling his textures from a different source entirely and uploading those into full, individual images. (this exact process is why the static screen against Grubba takes up ABSURD space in the dump folder)
Alternatively, the devs could've been dumb and actually have a bunch of repeat textures. Either or, gonna give it a looksie soon. For now, I'm just going over some missing assets in characters, such as Bobbery's missing feet sprites, Yoshi's missing mouth sprites, and Fuzzy's eyes/Jungle Fuzzy. (I decided to take some liberties with the Fuzzy eyes and give him sharp pupils a la Rick and Morty. fits better with the Fuzzy archetype imo.) These are all of the Smorg textures in the game: These are the only ones that need to be added. Those eyes fit the character very well. 10-05-2016, 12:26 PM

Dunno why this game likes to be impossibly harsh to the GC's cache and RAM at seemingly random intervals. On that note, I'm assuming you now have a complete depository of all the textures in the game if you were able to give such an accurate figure. If that's the case, would you mind sharing it? |
