Kind of makes me feel like trading in my Z Ultra and getting an Exynos note 3 lol However I would miss the LTE and the stupid large screen on the Z Ultra :-)

@Sonic
Phew. This is my first android device so I wanted it to be equal or better than my iPad and it sure sounds pretty good. It comes in two days an my body is ready. You said it had an extra core to the 604, but when I read up about the 604 it said it has 4 cores extra? (Dual quad cores which can all be used at once).. I saw someone post a video with an snapdragon 800 at like 1.8ghz I think and it looked pretty darn good, so I cannot imagine how awesome this emu will be when I O/C to 2.7-2.9ghz. You have done an amazing job so far and I'm happy that it might be playable in a year or two. 11-19-2013, 03:02 AM
Oh sorry if I was a bit vague.
My ARM Chromebook is a Exynos 5250, so it is a dual core Cortex-A15 at 1.7Ghz, with a Mali-T604MP4. Your tablet is a Exynos 5420, so it is a octa core Cortex-A15/A7 at 1.9Ghz/1.3Ghz, with a Mali-T628MP6. Dolphin already maxes out my two CPU cores in my ARM Chromebook, so the threaded Mali renderer doesn't much CPU time to do its work. Since your tablet is effectively a quad core, Dolphin will max out two of those CPU cores, then the Mali renderer will use something like 25% of another CPU core which will give you more speed. Then on top of that, the new Mali GPU is even more powerful which will help. 11-19-2013, 03:15 AM
@Sonic - it doesn't just use the first quad, it uses them both in tandem thanks to big.LITTLE - effectively making it one of the first true octacores for tablets, but it probably won't make much difference.
If you want me to test any betas or want to remotely use the tablet I have no issues at all. Seriously - if I can help in any way it would love to. Looking forward to the freedom android brings. 11-28-2013, 11:20 AM

I made a mistake in my OpenGL ES 3 detection for PowerVR based devices, that's why it allows you to select the OpenGL backend.
That'll be fixed in the next update. 11-29-2013, 12:14 AM

@sonic sorry it took so long to get back. I have been playing around and enjoying android a lot.
I am shocked by how amazing this is. Just dow loaded it and made sure OpenGL 3 was enabled and man this thing is much faster than I expected it to be. Intro and menus about half speed, in-game sound and audio is full speed. When I got in the car and radio started I was shocked it played the songs completely fine with no lag. Cannot question on actual game lag though because there's no on screen dpad and I could only use 3 buttons which I used for start, a and b. When I press a or b the accelerate/reverse buttons light up instantly and also the character model has no lag when moving around in the car. Shockingly amazing. I wouod go as far to say this couod get to 30fps with some more polish. I saw somewhere someone recommended settings to use, so I'll try and find them. The dolphin im using was from the buildbot. Feature requests: On screen dpad Disable audio (prefer music playing in older games) Thank you for being amazing. Seriously, I would never think a tablet could do this. Edit: the imagehost made my image low res... |
