DDS is fullsize. Meaning 4k. DDS_8x is up to 8x the original size. Anything above 8x is reduced down to 8x. Generally 8x is considered 1080p.

thank you, so if i'm using the emulator on a fullHD monitor, i can use DDS_8X as the DDS is specific for 4K tv/monitor, i can't notice any difference on a fullHD monitor, is that correct?
If i want to update the texture for both games on Dolphin, i suppose i have to follow these 2 steps: 1) download DD_8X tecture pack and save it into the right path 2) use Patcher64+ Tool with the "not hacked roms" to add additional fixes and features: which are the suggested fixes/feature i have to add with it for both the games? thank you! You can use the DDS_8x pack just fine. Your own display doesn't matter. It's the size of the textures, not the resolution you need to run it. 8x simply means the textures are in a lower resolution we recommend for 1080p display. But you can use it on a 4k display too. Vice versa works too. The full size DDS pack is meant for 4k, but you can run it on a 1080p display too. You are definitely going to notice some less crispier and sharp textures using the 8x pack, especially on a 4k display. The quality is lower, hence why it also makes it looks less detailed. Generally if you got the SSD space for it, and the system specs you could always use the fullsize DDS pack regardless of using a 4k display or not. But if either SSD space or your system specs are a concern for properly running it, that's where there is a 8x downscaled pack. And if you can't notice the difference between fullsize and 8x either, you could just as well stick to the 8x downscaled version because it's lighter to run anyway. Just because it's 8x doesn't mean it's overall lower in quality. Like I said, only the textures above an 8x native resolution are kept at a maximum of 8x. A lot of textures already don't go higher than 8x. But for the textures that do (mostly environments, like in Goron City) those are scaled down to a maximum of 8x. Parts of the game which already were in 8x won't therefore have a difference between the 8x downscaled version and the fullsize version. As for suggestions on what to patch. I couldn't tell you honestly. I only make the tool. I don't make the suggestions. You could always use one of the presets I included or leave it at the default settings, but that's about as much as I can suggest. It all comes down to personal preference. But feel free to join our official Discord and ask in there for suggestions. Discord link is in my signature below. 09-28-2023, 08:17 AM
thanks, I checked my current Textures folder and it includes the following folders: https://i.postimg.cc/v8JfzRkK/textures.png
I don't remember where i downloaded them more than 2 years ago...is it better to delete them all and put in that path only these 2 folders https://i.postimg.cc/RCL4PKDz/new-textures.png ? Are the textures automatically detected in this way? If so, after this, i have to use Patcher64+ tool patching the original wad file in this way https://i.postimg.cc/PqW731Qw/zelda.png ? As you can see, i can't push "PATH SELECTED OPTION" as it is locked. and it seems that it requires the rom to be patched...even if i have already selected the wad file... Why? thanks (09-28-2023, 08:17 AM)legolas119 Wrote: thanks, I checked my current Textures folder and it includes the following folders: https://i.postimg.cc/v8JfzRkK/textures.png You didn't switch to Wii VC mode. You're trying to patch a WAD in native mode. And native mode doesn't accept any WADs. WADs aren't ROMs, so don't get confused with that. And yes, delete the old version of the texture pack. And replace it with the new update. 09-28-2023, 09:35 AM

My previous version where the REDUX versions:https://i.postimg.cc/mkNtXX6H/zelda2.png and they includes a lot of fixes. Is it possible to patch the roms in order to create the redux version again? And i have the collectors edition rom. But i haven't any other roms to be patched...Which are the roms that i can patch with Patcher64 and that they can be upgraded with texture patches? In the meanwhile i deleted all the previous patches and put these into the folder: https://i.postimg.cc/Wpfm0hc6/Cattura.png thanks (09-28-2023, 09:35 AM)legolas119 Wrote: ah ok ok. The US one from the eShop, if you can still access it . GC discs won't work. You can extract the ROM from it, but you can't patch the GC disc as a whole. That's because OoT for the GC disc lacks Expansion Pak support, and both OoT and MM using a different kind of save format. You can either patch a WAD (enable the Wii VC mode by pressing Visual Console button) or a native ROM (N64 ROMs are in .z64, use native mode). For a Wii VC WAD you use Dolphin and the texture pack from this thread. For native ROM you use a N64 emulator such as Project64 and one of our texture packs for on GLideN64). Different platforms require different texture packs. You can patch the same original WAD or ROM as many times you want. Unless it's specified it won't affect your save data, and you can just pick up the game where you left it with the new changes patched into the WAD or ROM. 09-29-2023, 08:27 AM
ok, first of all, i want to add the 2 games to Dolphin, later i will do the same on Project64 with Glide
I have patched with Patcher64+tools Majora's Mask, and it work properly. I will ask to Discord which are the best settings i can set on Patcher when i patche the rom. I have a couple of questions: 1) I followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovknYMdIP9I&t=1s but it was releases 2 years ago and Patcher64 is now really changed. For example, it seems that it is not possible anymore to map the masks to the 4 directional button (see at 10:50 minute). Is that correct? 2) As the 30fps fix is now present into the fixes of Patch64, i suppose it isn't necesary anymore to push Clock ovveride to 295%, so i turned it to the default value (100%). Is it ok? https://i.postimg.cc/gJ3vWKbP/Cattura.png 3) is it possible to set a controller setting specific for the 2 Zelda games and automatically assign these 2 controller mapping profiles to the 2 games? Or which is the gamecube controller mapping that i can use for GC and VIrtual console Zelda games? 4) if i push on the googledrive link, i only see this page: https://i.postimg.cc/8k2zWVvw/Cattura2.png Why? And the following questions related to OoT: 1) i'm trying to download from Discord channel the Grand King Admentus zoom.glsl file but i can only download a zoom.txt file..why? 2) in OoT isn't possible to activate a 30fps fixes with Patch64? i 3) where is the EXPAND MEMORY option in Patcher64+ needed to run Action Replay codes? 4) is it possible to change the Game Title? https://i.postimg.cc/T1D453HX/Cattura5.png thank you very much for all your help 09-29-2023, 04:57 PM

I suggest you don't rely on unofficial sources. You change the items for on the D-Pad in-game now. 2. I still suggest setting the CPU Clock Override to a higher value. The Wii VC still lacks in power after all. 3. You can set controller profiles to switch automatically to by listing those profiles in the game's ini file. Check https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-un...s-per-game. 4. Those are folders. Please look around first. OoT: 1. Rename it as .glsl or download it as .glsl. 2. 30 FPS is toggled in-game through Redux. 3. It's still called Expand Memory. Switch to Wii VC mode first. Only shows up then. Please look around first. 4. Yes. It's in the "Custom Channel Title and GameID" section. Please look around first. 09-30-2023, 07:45 AM
thanks!
MM 1) Do I have to set any particular settings into Patch64 to do that? How can I set the "change items" configuration? 2) 250% is ok? 3) Well, i created a "Default" GC pad setting profile and a "Zelda OoT" pad settings profile (they are identical now): https://i.postimg.cc/02fnP9gr/gamesettings.png. But is it possible to automatically load the Zelda OoT profile when i run Zelda OoT? And is it available a good joypad mapping for both Zelda game? I'm using the Xbox One joypad 4) ah ok ok, i enter in every folder and i saw the textures, but they aren't available into the Zelda folder, for this reason i asked here. Probably the Zelda textures aren't present here. I does't matter, i downloaded them from the main link OoT: 1) Done, i put it here: https://i.postimg.cc/4xMD5fFm/glsl.png. And i set Post Processing = zoom, is that correct? 2) I'm not able to find the 30fps option into the Redux tab: https://i.postimg.cc/tCg4TzZy/red.png Where is it? 3) Done, thanks 4) Yes, i tried to to that before to ask here, in this way: https://i.postimg.cc/nh05Lvm8/Cattura.png But it doesn't work, i still have same title: https://i.postimg.cc/PJjKyxDz/Cattura2.png |
