Save up for a 1155 socket motherboard and a i5 2500k.
You won't regret it.
Specs:
Mobo:Asus Sabertooth P67 Rev 3.0 w/ Evercool 50mm fan CPU:i7 2600k @ 4.20GHz w/ Corsair A70 RAM:G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL9 GPU:MSI N580GTX Lightning (Nvidia Geforce GTX 580) 1.5GB HDD:Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB CD/DVD Burner:Generic LG CD/DVD Burner (Black) Power Supply:Corsair GS800 Case:Corsair 600t (Black) OS:Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
Dolphin comparison :
AMD Phenom = Intel Dual Core I3/I5/I7 (Sandy bridge) > I3/I5/I7 (nehalem) > Intel Core 2 Duo / Quad Core > Intel Dual Core Dolphin uses 2 core , 4 core may gain 5-10% speed if LLE back end is used Laptop: Mini PC :: 09-17-2011, 12:29 PM

Quote:For Dolphin, yes. Although intel i3/i5/i7 cpus are indeed faster than anything AMD has to offer right now for dolphin turbo boost is not the reason why. Turbo boost only affects clock rate. In the older clarkdale/lynnfield/bloomfield/gulftown cpus turbo boost works by bumping up the core multipliers for all active cores by increments of 1x until either: -it hits the max turbo multiplier -the temperature gets too high -core load is not at 100% on any cores The mobile (laptop chips) have two additional limitations: -it hits the max power consumption allowed -the max turbo multiplier changes based on the number of active cores, the less cores are active the higher it is There is also a separate technology used in both the desktop and mobile chips called powergate, which cuts off the power to any inactive core to save power. With sandy bridge things get a bit more complicated. Sandy bridge has turbo boost 2.0. Turbo boost 2.0 allows the GPU that is embedded on the cpu die to be overclocked by turbo boost in addition to the cpu cores. The limitation that changes the max turbo multiplier based on number of active cores in the mobile chips has been removed in favor of a more efficient TDP limitation. In other words in cpu heavy applications sandy bridge will underclock the GPU and overclock the CPU cores within its predefined power and TDP limitations. But in GPU heavy applications like games it will do the reverse, underclock the cpu cores and overclock the GPU. So it balances the GPU and CPU clock rates based on processing work load and keeps the total power consumption and heat within a certain limited max amount.

I can't understand it.. Make it shorts
i3 can perform better than AMD Phenom II x4? Heard that Sapphire GPU can't last long... Is this graphic card better? THIS (Scroll down for information) i3 + asus nvidia GT 440 1GB DDR5 128BIT + 4GB Ram , Can smooth gaming ? I am playing One Piece Unlimited Cruise.. 09-17-2011, 01:37 PM
Yes. Just make sure it's a sandy bridge cpu and make sure you have an LGA1155 motherboard to go with it.
