I have an i5-3570k overclocked to 4.5 ghz. with an HD6850 and running Mario Galaxy 2 with LLE Recompiler. When the game isn't too intensive and not a ton of sounds going on it runs a constant 60 fps no problemo. However, typically during boss fights or when a lot is happening I can see the fps dipping into the 40's and it plays in slow motion. I've tried every performance guide, tweak, you name it, and nothing helps at all.
I did a test at the intro to the final Bowser board. Mario lands and fps hover around 55 fps. I downclock to 4.2 ghz and they drop to around 52 fps. Down to 3.8 ghz. and I drop to about 48 fps. Keeping task manager up the whole time I am using all 4 of my cores but total CPU usage never goes above 60% and most of the time all 4 cores are at least at 40%. Why is Dolphin not pegging my CPU? I've set LLE on Thread and it doesn't help. If I switch to HLE sound the game is buttery smooth (but sound dies). I play at 1920x1080 with 3x internal on my projector.
I'm at a loss here. My CPU is pretty much as fast as you can get. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Also, to the dev team, I can't thank you enough for Dolphin. It's literally the reason I built such a powerful HTPC so I can enjoy all my games in glorious 1080p. Thanks!
