After this PR changed the way we dump frames with Dolphin, I've had numerous problems with it.

The first problem is probably something completely unavoidable, but here it is: dumping is now way slower than it was before. I think this is probably because I always dumped uncompressed before, whereas now both of our dumping options compress the video while dumping (why can't I dump uncompressed any more? That was useful).

The second problem is the real one; for some reason, all of my frame dumps are output at 120fps. This doesn't make sense at all, seeing as the GC/Wii aren't capable of producing more than 60fps to begin with, and I only have a 60Hz monitor, so I definitely don't use any of the few 120fps codes that are available. Furthermore, when I play these dumps back, it seems that the frames weren't dumped properly, as it seems to contain the same lag that was happening due to dumping (my framerate dropped to around 20). Before, I could dump frames even if my actual performance was terrible because the program just dumped every rendered frame and told the media file to play it back at 60fps (at least I'm assuming that's how it worked), but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Can anyone help me with these problems? I understand that the first one is probably unavoidable, but the two problems with fps are really bad, and I'd like to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. Also, just to be clear, this is all when using FFV1 because why the hell would I dump frames with a lossy encoder.

I think FPS lag will be reflected in the dump but not VPS lag. I haven't checked, though. Does using single core help?

It doesn't seem to help. The weird thing is that it seems to be acting like in-game lag rather than Dolphin lag (sorry, I don't know the smart-people words for this); the VPS stayed at a constant 60, but my FPS went down to 20--but there were no audio issues, as if the game would be lagging on the original hardware even though it normally plays at 60fps. It's very strange. What I meant in my last post wasn't that dumping frames eliminated any lag that would actually occur in-game; I meant that it didn't matter if Dolphin itself was emulating at full speed.

Can't help you if you don't even say what game. Also some games run above 60 FPS.

I didn't say which game because I figured it happened the same for all games--I've tried it with Kirby Air Ride and Pokemon Colosseum so far with the same results. Neither my FPS nor my VPS were reporting anything above 60.

Does nobody else have this issue? I'd really hate to see this problem still around when 5.0 comes out, especially because I never had a problem with the old video dumping system. Can anyone else get this to happen on their system?

I tried both of those games, I got a 30FPS (Pokemon) and 60 FPS dump (Kirby)

Do you have Virtual/RealXFB on maybe?

I have XFB disabled. However, I tried again with Mario Galaxy (because I noticed I had only tried this with GC games), and at first, I thought I had the same problem, but I compressed the video with handbrake, and it actually played at the proper speed and at 60fps. I thought this might have been the problem with the other files, so I tried the same thing with Colosseum again, but it didn't work--the frame dump was still laggy. I really don't get why this is happening to me and not you, but I'll try playing around with some other settings.

Alright, I took a look at one of my output frame dumps, and on closer inspection, it isn't even output at the correct framerate: the mediainfo of the file is:

Frame rate mode: Variable
Frame rate: 120.000 (24/30) fps
Minimum frame rate: 24.000 fps
Maximum frame rate: 30.000 fps

This seems ridiculous to me. Why would this be happening to me, but not anyone else?

Did a quick test here with Luigi's Mansion and it works without issues either. I even enabled a lot of enhancements my laptop can't handle (to knock the FPS to single digits) and in another test I've selected 1x IR while holding Tab (to make the game run much faster than what it's supposed) and in both cases the output file played correctly...
