Sadly, it doesn't quite solve my problem, because if I stretch the window to fill the screen, Dolphin seems to dislike such a window size and goes back to 640x480 the next time I launch a game. It only remembers the window size if I don't fill the screen, and then screenshots taken in fullscreen and window mode have different resolutions. Yes, I could use the option to take screenshots based on IR instead of window size, but then all screenshots will be at the IR resolution/AR and require resizing and resaving. Oh well. I do appreciate you taking the time to reply so many times, even if it's been a MaJoR pain to do so. ^^;

Whether this is intentional or due to developer incompetence is another matter that depends upon the game in question. It's intentional. These games were designed for CRTs which have overscan, the borders would not be visible on these kinds of displays. If anything rendering data that'll never be seen by the majority of users is more incompetent, though that's probably a strong word for it. 11-25-2017, 11:44 PM
You know it would be nice if I could use a UI option to quickly and easily swap between forced 640x480 output instead of forced desktop resolution, for the games I choose to play at 1xIR in 4:3, without having to wade through ini files.

You know it is getting quite annoying with you hijacking other peoples threads because the devs decided to make a change you don't agree with and don't want to roll it back. There are actually only two people including yourself that are annoyed enough about it to go to the forums, and that is with a user base in the 100.000s

If I see another situation, especially one made by another user, that gives purpose to that setting then I am going to make an example out of it. It just so happens that this affects me too, I just never made a post about it because I always just switched to 640x480 and forced 4:3 worked. Can't easily do that anymore.
