I mapped out 80 code references to the LOD values. I'll have to go through a lot of them and see what they affect. If you want to try learning some of the dolphin debugger, you could probably do some of them.
Improving the player polygons and LOD

Wow, awesome job! Thank you.
Wish I could honestly, I made some attempt many times, but I had no success I'll try to find some better tutorials.

Is this some sort of secret funny option?
AR: 048170C8 4AA00000 04D96FD4 3C808403 04D96FD8 6084022C Well the helmets are off, so tell me if the benched players cause lag still. 6084020C is what defines the LOD. The game tells you when it's loading these values and what it's looking for, such as "Is the last value C?". Going through enough of them can help determine what each value does and perhaps if there's an unknown value that will enable something. 01-13-2018, 06:14 AM
Hah, I'll be home from work in about 2 hours from now.
Thanks!

Looks like you somehow managed to take models from the minigame (another game mode) to the regular NHL game mode, looks pretty funny indeed
Unfortunately, the lag is still there. It also crashes quite often. I managed to get from work little sooner and awaiting your next instructions.. ) edit: also the helmets are still ON (at least on my screen), they are just really big

..so I changed 6084022C to 6084022D and game is not crashing anymore. Damn I'm good!
edit: it just crashed hah. But yeah helmets, are still ON..

interesting thing. So I did a fresh start of the game from the desktop using that 6084022D code and have a completely different result.
The game now runs fine, without lag. The problem is that the benches look really bad now (like on the Wii game default) and the models on the ice are somewhere in the middle from "awesome" and the Wii default.

Hmm ok, when I used the code mid-game there were no helmets.
This code turns off helmets, and should be used with the good AR code, but it's very buggy. I'll have to look around more I guess. 04D94E1C 60000000 01-13-2018, 06:14 PM

So I should try this last one (04D94E1C 60000000) in combination with some other? Also do you think I should always do a fresh start with each code, or it's okay if I change the code and just hit apply in a game? Thanks..

So I somehow managed it work properly.
Here is captures sequence without the helmets. And the lag is exactly the same as with them. So it must be something else than the helmets itself. It doesn't even matter (on my system) whether I use 1080p or 4k resolution. I'm still around 50fps. Interesting for sure!
