After moving my files to a new computer (specs shown in my profile), I wanted to play Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii (version 1.30) again using the same version of Dolphin (5.0-18498 x64), so I went to where my old save files were stored (%UserProfile%\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Wii\title\00010000\534d4e45\data) and copied my old save files to the same directory on my new computer. There were three files in the directory: banner.bin, NerSMBW.sav, and wiimj2d.sav, and from what I can tell, only the former two are modified when the game saves. However, no matter what I do, I can't get my save file to appear in-game; it always shows all the saves as being empty.
I've tried each of the following:
Confusingly, my save files for the original New Super Mario Bros. Wii are imported just fine with the method I used first. Does anyone know if the method by which Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii saves game files is any different from the original game? How can I import the save file if it uses the ".sav" extension, which isn't supported by the "Import Wii Save..." feature?
I've tried each of the following:
- Right-clicking on the game in Dolphin and selecting "Export Wii Save", then selecting "Tools > Import Wii Save..." to import the same save file again.
- Changing the save file location according to Newer's troubleshooting guide: https://newerteam.com/wii/help/trouble.html
- Using a savestate and then saving the game, which works, but the latest savestate I made is several worlds behind my latest progress.
